I downloaded their supposedly free scan, and it said it found all sorts of problems. When I tried to "fix" the problems, found out I had to pay for that.
OK, a little cheesy way to advertise, but not terrible. So I bought their basic package to see if they could find the virus McAfee couldn't. Not only could it not find that, it didn't find anything, even what the "free" scan supposedly found. Not good, but the charge isn't worth my time to worry.

Then every few minutes their software would open a little window telling me how doomed I am if don't buy this or buy that.

That's the kind of software I want removed from my computer. I was able to unistall it, but I'd advise anyone to not install it in the first place.

AUTHOR: CyberDefender - Los Angeles (USA)

Dear Customer,

The Cyberdefender customer service department would be happy to investigate the status of your account, but unfortunately we cannot find your account from just the location of “Austin Texas” and need more identifying information in order to assist you. We would be glad to work with you towards a solution for your unsatisfactory experience, so feel free to contact our corporate headquarters at 877-229-5957, or email us at supportATcyberdefender.com, and please be sure to give us your full name, date of purchase, and the email address you used when you made your purchase. We will be happy to assist you.

CyberDefender's FREE trials for Early Detection Center (EDC), Registry Cleaner and other trial product versions are intended to enable you to scan your computer and identify threats and/or errors. CyberDefender's Early Detection Center download includes free Anti-Virus which does not require payment and will remain active as long as the software remains installed. To remove detected malware, spyware, or errors you will need to purchase and activate the specified CyberDefender software. Subscription starts at $29.99 for a full year of protection against: Viruses, Spyware, Trojans, Worms, and Malware.

If it seemed that our antivirus and anti-malware software did not worked on your computer, the reason that it doesn’t appear to be working is because it sounds as though you never activated your Early Detection Center account, which would be the reason why the program kept popping up prompting you to activate your account.  If you need assistance with activation, again please contact our customer service department.

Regarding your contention that our Early Detection Center program somehow put viruses or malware on your computer, this assertion is patently impossible. Our program removes viruses – it does not and cannot create them or send them out. Also, all CyberDefender products can be uninstalled using your Windows Control Panel and opening Add/Remove Programs.

First, you will want to exit out of Registry Cleaner or Early Detection Center by right-clicking on the red box in the top right-hand corner, or right-clicking on the icon in your lower right-hand toolbar.

Then, simply click

Start>

Settings>

Control Panel>

Add/Remove Products

to open the menu listing all currently installed programs on your computer. Locate any CyberDefender and/or MyIdentityDefender entries from the list and click the Uninstall option to remove the software. An uninstall wizard will walk you through the complete uninstall process.

VERY IMPORTANT: Restart your computer after uninstalling to complete the process.

Again, we would be glad to work with you towards a solution for your unsatisfactory experience, so feel free to contact our corporate headquarters at 877-229-5957, Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email us at supportATcyberdefender.com, and please be sure to give us your full name, date of purchase, and the email address you used when you made your purchase.

We will be happy to assist you.

Thank you,

CyberDefender Customer Service
