Last year I purchased an Email Backup program from WCCL. Apparently, they have an online scheme that can deny you use of the software you have purchased.

It was not made clear during purchase.

What happens is this......

1). You purchase the software
2). Every 30 days, the software connects to their web site and communicates with their server. You must enter some information. If the information does not match, the software terminates. The problem I had with this is what happens to all my valuable backups in case their server is no longer available. In this day and age it happens. Therefore if you forget your registration info or sell your software, or their server is not responding, you will not be able to use the software.

But there is an even bigger problem lurking.

You are only allowed to re-install the software twice. After that, you receive a message stating that you have exceeded your install quota.

I have never shared my software and only have it installed on one computer but I did buy a new computer and then upgraded to a larger hard drive. Because of this, all my backups and the software I paid for are now useless because I had to reinstall the software.

This came at a very inconvenient time for me as I needed emails for critical correspondence and because I was upset with Alan at MyHelpHub.com and voiced my displeasure, they will no longer communicate with me.

This company seems to be excessively paranoid and they implement many schemes to protect their software at the inconvenience of the legitimate user.
If you think Microsoft is bad, these people can teach Bill Gates a thing or two on inconveniencing paying customers.

Be aware also that they are very slick at what I call "smoozing". They will file an eloquent rebuttal coated with a very pleasant sounding tone, however, there are other reports that other people have filed available here at ripoffreports and the list appears to be growing.

Instead of purchasing from them, I would suggest seeking alternatives.

I am considering legal action, however WCCL is well aware that it is an expensive proposition and there is no guarantee of the outcome. WCCL is banking on this heavily.

Sirs,

Thank you for your report.

I would like to clarify on a few of the points you raised:

1) Some of our software does require activation, just like Microsoft Windows. It does this after 30 days. This helps prevent fraud.

2) Your backups will STILL work, regardless of whether you activate correctly or not. Indeed, they're stored in a common zip format.

3) You can install the software on up to three different machines. After that point, you need to contact us to be revalidated. This is not standard - most companies only allow installing on one computer.

4) Staff at myHelpHub.com will only ever refuse to communicate if you use expletives in your communication. This is standard corporate policy.

5) Your comment regarding "schmoozing" is unwarranted. You are our third unique report at Rip-Off Report, and I take all complaints seriously. I also suggest individuals contact me directly at www.karlmoore.com/contact/ if they cannot get the matter resolved by the site manager.
