Gateway - Hurley State Bank Credit Ruined for a POS Gateway financed through Hurley State Bank ripoff Johnson City Tennessee

I need some advice. I purchased a Gateway in 2000 for $1299.99, and as everyone else was shocked to recieve a credit card in the mail. I made my payments every month on time for over a year, recieving bills only every once in a while. The computer completely crashed and quit working altogether after a year.

I took it in for service, paid for that out of pocket as my warranty had expired by less than a week (2 or 3 days literally) Two months later the computer went back down and I gave up. I refused to continue paying for a computer that no longer worked.

By my calculations I figured I only owed around $200.00 seeing as how I had not missed one payment and payed over and above the required minimum. I forgot all about it until last week when I applied for a mortgage with my fiance. I cannot buy a house now because I have a charge off from Hurley Bank for $523.00 on my credit report and a $2200.00 balance with Asset Acceptance (collection agency) on behalf of my unpaid debt with Hurley.

How can I get Hurley off of my report? And is there any way out of paying this other agency $2200.00??? I actually stumbled on this site trying to find a way to contact Hurley to figure out why and how I owed them money. Now I know they were Gateway and sold out to Asset Acceptance.

I need to get this cleared up, I want to start a future and buy a house with my fiance. It will take years to get rid of this and I can't wait that long... any ideas? Please Respond I will do whatever it takes to get this/these Gateway affiliated companies off of my back!!! Thanks for reading.
