I also purchased (1) 128 MB of RAM from Best Buy. I sent all the proper paperwork (from BestBuy register slips & proof of purchase). I received a postcard stating:

Dear Consumer:

Thank you for participatingin this promotion. Unfortunately we could not honor your request because of the following reason(s): The UPC symbol or proof-of-purchase tab you submitted is not valid for this promotion. (An orginal UPC symbol or proof-of-purchase tab is required.)

RETURN TO:
PO Box 15801
Scottsdale, AZ. 85267-5801

Dept.#: 030640 SCAN

This Company has acknowledged my rebate request, only to deny me the $20.00, let me say I surely will not return to get "RIPPED-OFF another time. "K-Byte when I need additional Ram!", "IT WILL NOT BE YOUR BRAND".

"PLEASE", ANYONE LOOKING FOR "RAM", MY RECOMMENDATION IS - STAY AWAY FROM K-Byte.........

I work for the Newspaper and this company will have a scam article printed warning other's about their rebate scam, and I will also send this rebate scam by K-Byte and Best Buy to the local tv news stations for investigations.

BEST BUY ... "GOOD - BY" ___ K-Byte ... "RAM IT"

rebated advice

AUTHOR: Chris - Pittsburgh (U.S.A.)

I've been dealing with rebates for years I ascendant probably hundreds myself have spoken to many of Appeals who also received or not receive rebates I've also seen these postcards that you talk of usually what happens with these denial postcards when the problem lies with the new universal product code most of the time the person has sent in the wrong universal product code from the package the universal product code is the most successful in most widely used invention of our time it is for that reason that multiple bar codes will be placed on an item for shipping tracking inventory of lot of times you'll even find a bar code on the product itself which you do find on K by memory that I'm sure of this usually indicates the serial number the chip the lot that it was manufactured with other information and not entirely sure what all information that bar could might indicate however it's not approve the purchase from product I find your common very interesting for one reason in particular an average movie that I have a check from that exact same rebate promotion sitting on the desk in front of me now to allow for to get here I got an nine attendant deposit it shortly it's purely by accident that I stumbled across your comment on this message board and I do have some advice for you and it is this always double check instructions on the rebate also be sure that you're sending in the proper Universal Product Code you can usually tell this one apart from other bar codes on the product around product packaging because the first in last number will be separated from the internal numbers on the Barton this usually indicates that it's the proof purchase secondly if you are at all on the slightest confused or on certain of anything on the rebate I know that on the best buyer rebates there's a 1800 number on the bottom of the rebate the you can call for assistance in fact on this other rebate for pack CD is that I have they're actually to numbers on it that I can go to for help the third piece of the guys that I can offer you is to send your rebate certified mail now this usually costs a dollar to and it's a service provided you through the Postal Service and might be cost-effective on some smaller rebates this a good thing use on larger rebates what happens with certified mail is that you can list the contents and the recipient is required to sign for it upon receiving it he then received notification that has been received and you have documentation and everything you sent, then and can be used to back you up if you do have any type of dispute this far as what best buy has done to extending the rebate offer to you and giving you a chance to get the proper your PC to that which is what they've done by sending you this postcard they have provided to you a courtesy that they're not required to do at least not in this state I hope that this post is helped you and if you have any other questions feel free to draw me in e-mail I will warn you in advance so the mill town which I provided doesn't get checked more than once every two weeks and a lot of times the e-mail skill lost in the spam
