Ordered a wireless router from Tiger Direct over a year ago. They talked me into a software package telling me that it had rebates equal to the price. I didn't need the software secirity suite but the salesman told me he thought it would do hard drive recovery which I did need. Well it did not and the rebates didn't add up to the price so it was not free as presented. There were over $100 in rebates however in 9 parts. It was a pain to submitt, lots of hoops to jump through but I did it. I received 1 of the 9 rebates but the system said that 8 of the 9 were sent. After a few calls I thought it was all straightened out. They sent 7 more checks. The bank returned them to me as bad checks. I have them. After many calls to onrebate.com and Tiger and faxing evetrthing in to both several times it is not resolved. They sent me 1 more of the checks. The 2 checks I received were for the lower amounts. This is how Tiger Direct works these days. Everytime I faxed them the bad checks I woudl get an e-mail telling me to wait 8-10 weeks that is another 8-10 weeks. It is now over a year and I only have a fraction of my rebate.
Tiger Direct used to be a good company. They were bought by Systemax who also owns onrebate.com The rebate thing is a scam, don't fall for it!!! Bad checks, nice touch Tiger!!!

I know an apology by itself does very little to make up for the inconvenience you've experienced but on behalf of TigerDirect.com I do apologize. I also pledge to resolve this situation for you. I've been very successful helping other customers obtain rebates by intervening with the rebate sponsors and processing centers and would like to help you as well. TigerDirect.com is committed to our customer's satisfaction; I just need a little more information so I can get this resolved for you. Please contact me at elizabeth.hernandez@tigerdirect.com and give me the chance to prove our commitment.
Thank you for your business.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Hernandez

Never heard back from this Tiger employee who promised to save the day after e-mailing at the given address.....not surprising!

The rebates are not a scam, but we sincerely apologize for the situation. Please email me at Patrice.Altine@tigerdirect.com with your order number, the amount of the rebate, and a brief summary of what has happened thus far, and I will personally escalate the situation, so that you paid the full amount you are owed.
Apologetically,
Pat Altine

Twice rebuttals were posted by Tiger saying they would fix this rebate issue. Twice I respoded with all the information they need. I have received no response back. The rebate thing is a complete scam. If you are lucky you will receive part of your rebate. This is the second time I was scammmed by this. No more for me! Warn all of your freinds and go buy stock in Systemax, the current owner of Tiger Direct. Systemax will continue to makes lot of money off this scam.

No e-mails have been received from this woman or anyone else at Tiger. I should be patient, funny, this is going on 2 years. I have sent 3 faxes, and have called several times and e-mailed many times, always with the same BS..........we are working on it....wait 8-10 weeks. Yeah right Tiger. Just keep the BS flying and I will keep posting the truth here.

Well I did actually get an e-mail from Patricia at Tiger Direct and she told me they "Are working on it". Thats was weeks ago still no check ofcourse. They have told me thay are "working on it" for almost 2 years now!
Next step is to file with the Fla States Attorneys office. Not sure how much they are worth these days however. This would make a good class action suit. I am far from alone in this. I also did not rceive another Onrebate.com rebate before this incident. That time they told me I forget to sign my rebate form. Didn't think it was true but 8-10 weeks later thought it was possible. Now I know it was BS.
I think the best way to deal with this is to buy mailing lists of people who buy computers and components and e-mail my story along with an image of the returned bad checks to them and ask them to forward my e-mail to everyone in their address books. I know this is a lot of trouble for less then $100 in rebates but if our men and women can die serving their country I can invest a little time trying to protect the values this country stands for.

Ma'am, we have been in contact with the rebate company, and we had them reissue payment for your rebates. They advised us that your payment was mailed to you on 7/18/08, and we tried to contact by you phone to give you the details personally, but we were unsuccessful. If there are any other questions or issues, feel free to contact me at Patrice.Altine@tigerdirect.com.
