This happened many many years ago, around the year 2000. I was 20 years old, walking through the parking lot of Linens and Things when I was approached by a man stating he was from Italy, a model for Georgio Armani, and he did not want to pay taxes on these very expensive leather coats he had in his rental car. Luckly, at that time, I was unemployed, and had almost no money. He showed me his passport and his airline ticket, and he was driving a blue ford taurus rental. He said these coats were worth $1200 bucks each but he would let me have them for $600. I told him I had only $60.00 to my name and I was unemployed. He asked about my bank account, mac card to be more specific, and asked if he could drive me to my atm to make a withdrawl. Not knowing what he would do to me if I got into his car, I told him I did not have a bank account and all I had was $60.00 on me. He then asked how much I had at home, I told him nothing.

He took the $60.00 and gave me this coat that reeked of leather car freshener. I put this thing in my closet at home and never touched it again. I was plenty p-o'ed with myself, thinking I was the biggest idiot that walked the earth, thought this for weeks. What made me remember this story is today, during my lunch hour, I was approached by another guy selling coats and telling me he is from Armani and doesn't want to pay taxes. He was driving a black mustang, NY plates with Hertz rental on the back. I told him if he did not get back on the highway, I was going to call the police for stolen property and de-frauding the public. He left in a very big hurry. Then I wondered if anyone else had gotten fooled, and came across this website. If anyone see's this guy, about 23-27 years old, black hair, clean shaven with a rental car selling coats, DO NOT purchase one. I feel a bit better about buying one many years ago, seeing how I am not the only one scammed by these guys.
