My daughter was scammed out of $810 on May 9, 2007. She is a bright 21 year old college student. If she can fall for this, anyone can.

She was approached by a black man with glasses about 6'5", 185-200#. Name - SEAN TORRES. Tattoo of Tyler "his son" on his right forearm, and a tattoo running up his left arm with red in the lettering.

Claims to be doing a contest for Univeristy of Kansas radio station. He was in the car with her and road to the ATM. A police Report was filed... Seller's name SEAN TORRES

She completed a cancellation form on the back of the receipt. He kept the receipt.

I spoke to someone at South Coast Circulation. They claim Sean Torres is contracted through Purebred Sales. She ask I send a fax to the sales manager, Linda, explaining the situation with copies of ATM receipts.

I expect no response, from this company, but we do NOT want another person scam, and God forbid, someone hurt.

Total refund is a scam??

AUTHOR: South Coast Circulation/purebred Sales - Escondido (U.S.A.)

I feel the report written here is very unfair. This report on your website was written by the mother, Lisa (not the person who purchased the order) before we were even given a chance to respond. Immediately upon receiving the fax (yes, we did answer immediately) we began a full investigation and it was found that the best resolution in this instance would be a refund. A FULL REFUND WAS ISSUED TO THE CONSUMER!! I do think it is unfair that we now have consumers who assume we are a "Scam"??? just from reading this very unfair letter. Too bad she didn't take a minute to update the outcome. I certainly don't understand how a full refund can be called a "SCAM". Our Customer Service department is most happy to help any customer who feels they have a problem.

Quick resolve

AUTHOR: Emily - St. Pete (U.S.A.)

The best method to resolve claims like this is to work with your bank! I signed up for this magazine deal to help some guy earn points for a trip against my better judgment and cut him a check for $55. He never told me how to cancel or if I changed my mind, how to contact the company and no receipt was issued. I put a stop payment on the check the next day, thinking I was in the clear. Two months later, I see an electronic check that debited $80 from my account. The funny thing was that this company issued check was using the SAME CHECK NUMBER as my canceled check! I immediately called my bank and they issued me a credit. They did recommend I change my account number to further prevent this company from dipping into my funds. My advice is, go with your gut and if you think it's fishy, always leave a paper trail (use a check!), get all the information, get a receipt, and never give out your debit/credit card number verbally. Unfortunately, this company is getting a bad rap because of it's employees not giving all the information needed. I signed up for this website to help others, I hope I did.
