Worldwide Timeshares has to be one of the slickest companies I have come across. It seems they plan well inadvance to take advantage of your situation. At least they did in our case

We listed with this company on the 24 February 2004 after an unsolicitated phone call we had recieved from a Mr. Thomas King.

I had spoken to Mr. King about 9 months pevious when my husband and I were browsing for companies to list our timeshare with. Mr. King was freindly and when we declined to list with them due to their price (almost 3 times higher than other companies) he remained most agreeable, promising to call should he hear of anyone interested in our Timeshare.

Then he sat back and waited. When we got his call to tell us that he had a buyer with approved financing, willing to pay our original asking price of $12,500.00 US (twelve thousand ,five hundred dollars US)we were extatic. Owning this time share is a financial drain on my husband and I, because he is retired and I am on disability for Parkinsons.

I informed Mr KIng that since we had last spoken to him we had reduced the price to $6000.00US, but he insisted we should take the original price as he had already secured the sale. However he did ask us not to let the person who was going to verify our information know that he had already told us about the "sale". (red flag #1)The verifyer was also most specific with her questions and only asked if we'd been "promised " anything by Mr. King and no we hadn't.We had been told only that he had an approved buyer and that we should list with their company in order to facilitate a possible sale.
So I gave my credit card number and waited for the forms.

Nothing arrived, and after 3 weeks I called again. This time I was told Mr. King had left the company .I was transfered to a Mr Chris Lang who at first was most sympathetic but who became most beligerent when I said that I suspected Mr. King of misrepresentation and would like my money back immediately. My request was denied.
Any time after that my calls to Mr. Lang were never returned. All correspondence has been ignored and we are now turning to you for help.

What can we do now ?

This is NOT true.

AUTHOR: Tony Roberts - Orlando (U.S.A.)

I have worked for Worldwide Timeshares for a long time now and see everything that goes on, on a daily basis.

This customer's account of what happened is greatly exaggerated! This customer went through a tape recorded official verification and stated clearly that no one made any special promises in any way to them, before we began to advertise their timeshare.

In addition, this customer was mailed an advertising agreement which they signed and returned to us by mail!

Our representatives see and hear of the sales occurring due to our efforts, and the resort they own at has been a good one for us, response wise. I believe that this customer read into what the rep was telling them in their mind, possibly due to the reps enthusiasm.

As far as the sales price, that part is not true. Ask anyone at our company what they think would be the best price for a timeshare and they will all tell you that the lowest amount you would take is how to price it. It's a very competitive business.

We have been in business for over 3 years now and our advertising is directly responsible for the sales of over 2000 individual timeshares. And that's just the ones we know about. Often our customers receive an offer, sell it or rent it, and then they never call us back to tell us to take it off the market!

We are still working on this customer's sale and will continue until it is sold. And if they are reasonable with what they will accept, I'm sure that their timeshare will wind up being sold. It normally takes some time and this customer was told that, and acknowledged during the taped verification that they understood that it might take some time and that we did NOT have a buyer waiting for that timeshare. They also acknowledged that the advertising fee was non refundable as we began working on it that same day.

Please post this response, it's only fair as there are always 2 sides to a story.

Sincerely,

Worldwide Timeshares

World Wide Rip Off

AUTHOR: Marc - Knoxville (U.S.A.)

Mr. Tony Roberts,

If this is such a isolated case why is there so mony complains about your company. I too have been scammed by Worldwide Timeshare. I also received an unsolisated phone call about my timeshare and could not get them to stop calling me. Finially I gave into your high pressure sales tactics and aggred to sell. The sales rep promised that my property would sell within the first 2 weeks on the market without a problem. He said that it would be advertised in many many magazines and newspapers. Here it is almost 3 years later and it is not sold yet. Nor have I EVER received a call. Despite my many calls to Worldwide nothing has ever been done. After about a month of me calling the original sales person was supposedly fire. I even asked to get a list of the magazines and newpapers that my ad was suppose to be in and they could never produce one. Mr Roberts your company is a rip off!

Pricing is the key to a sale

AUTHOR: Tony Roberts - Orlando (U.S.A.)

Marc,

If you never got any responses on your property, your price was to high.

If you advertise a car for sale in the newspaper at a price that is way to high, you will never get any calls on it, will you?

One of the biggest problems in the timeshare resale industry is that the buyer was high pressured into it, they are mad at themselves for this, and the salesman probably told them that it would go up in value. Then they go to resell it, and price it to high and then its the fault of the advertising company that it didn't sell?

We are an advertising company. We specialize in at least putting your advertisement out there in a way that it might be seen by an interested party. That's it. You went through a tape recorded, official verification in which you were asked if you understood this and agreed!

It is not fair to say to the world, that an advertising company is a "rip off scam", because your price was to high and it didn't sell at that price.

What about all of the thousands of sales that our advertising is responsible for? Those customers are very happy, went into it realistically (price wise), and got results.

I hope this rebuttal will be posted as again there are always 2 sides to a story!

Sincerely,

Worldwide Timeshares

Say what you want!

AUTHOR: Marc - Knoxville (U.S.A.)

Mr. Roberts,

I was not the one who set the price for my property. The sales man was. I had no I dea how much it was worth. It started at $10500.00 and after not selling I lowered it in $1000 dollar incriments till it ended up at $4000 now if you look up this property it is worth well more than that. So you cant say it was too high. The sales man said it would sell without a problem at $10500.00.

How can you explain when I called and asked for the names of the papers and magazines NO ONE was able to give them to me all they could say is it is on our web site and it would continue to list until it sells. Well for 6 monthes now I have kept tract on your wonderful web site and my ad has been removed. When I attempt to contarct someone no one will return my call or I am put on hold. I sat on hold one night for an HOUR AND A HALF just to see how good your costumer service was. I came to the conclution its not to good.

Eric Greene the supposed Manager in the Orlando office will not take calls or return calls. And for this so called taped conversation I have also asked about it and no one can come up with it.

I dont know what your position in the so called company but if you are in any kind of management position why dont you justify all these complains these people have on just this one website. Why is it these customers have gotten calls saying you have someone sitting infront of you wanting to buy the property and you need additional funds to close the deal. As far as my case I was told and has papers saying there will be NO CLOSING COSTS. The upfront fee is all we pay and your company will do the rest. As far as I am concerned I think all these people should get together and get a lawyer and sue your compnay for false advertisement and fraud.

Patiently wait for some answers,

No Hope

AUTHOR: Margaret - RR#3 Bobcaygeon (Canada)

To Marc, Knoxville Tennesse & Tony Roberts, Worldwide Timeshares,

After receiving the rebuttal from Mr Roberts I actually gained some hope after all it was a response.
So I wrote to Mr Roberts personally, hoping to continue the correspondance and maybe even find a purchaser for our timeshare.
Naive of me.....perhaps....but I had to try.
It would seem that you....Marc from Knoxville ....felt the same way ......but it looks like we have no hope as I have not had a response to my letter
To Worldwide Timeshares....I give up, you are just not worth further effort.
To Marc ....Good luck
To The Rip Off staff ....Thanks and Bye

Check this out

AUTHOR: Doreen - Valparaiso (U.S.A.)

I hope you are all well,

I am just wondering. I have seen this, "Worldwide Members Club" on bid4assets.

Opening bid of $99.00 unlimited usage timeshare. Must pay maintenance fees. Phone # 646-452-9971. With a $25.00 renewal fee?

This is May 14,2005. There is still 2 days to bid. How can they sell a timeshare for $100.00 to $150.00?? I am sure you all paid dearly for yours. Something does not add up here. What can it be? Inquiring mines want to know.
