 Simply put, I pulled a muscle in my back on the 13th of January 2012. I STILL went to work so they wouldnt be shorthanded. Told my supervisor what happened & that i would probably take Mon. & Tues. off to rest. I asked if i should bring a doctors note. He said to be on the safe side, yes. So i go to the doctor on Mon. the 16th. He puts me out for the week! THEN i get a call from h.r. saying ill be getting a letter in the mail & that my doctor needs to fill out the paperwork & fax it back to them. So, i take it to him on Mon. the 23rd. He checks me out again & says i can return to work but only on light duty. He fills out the paperwork stating that I CAN do my job, just no heavy lifting for the week of the 23rd-27th. No problem right??? Well, i never hear back from them if they want me to come back & do light duty or just to come back on the 30th 100%? So i called them today thew 25th of Jan. 2012. IM FIRED!!?? I done everything they asked of me! I called h.r.! I told them what my doctor said on the paperwork and they seemed puzzled at 1st. When it came down to it, i was told, ''YOU CANT EXPECT TO MISS 2 WEEKS OF WORK & STILL HAVE A JOB!'' ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!??? I HAVE A NOTE!! AND I DONE ALL MY PAPERWORK THEY ASKED FOR!! Is there ANYBODY that THEY have 2 answer to?? So now im in talks with the EEOC. My thing is, WHY can a family friend of the DISTRICT MANAGER, who hurt his back THERE, be allowed to do light duty, but im not?? I even came to work that Fri. so they wouldnt be shorthanded & gave them a heads up about Mon. & Tues. so they could adjust the schedule & give the guys that would be taking my 3hr shift a heads up! I guess it pays for the District Manager to be an old friend of the family. That worker got light duty! OR, maybe if i was Black, THEN i couldve got light duty?? Ive heard alot about GOODWILL since ive been there. Why the high turnover rate?? And why do they seem to go through Store Managers so much?? And they put an I.T. guy in a District Manager position?? What does an I.T. guy know about retail??? I wish all current & future Goodwill Employees LOTS OF LUCK with them! Just remember, if you get hurt off the job and miss more than a week, you can kiss your job goodbye!!!!!!! And just for the record, people would be AMAZED at the items that get thrown away at Goodwill!!! Ive actually brought things back inside and asked WHY are we throwing this away!??! The answers.... it wont sale, we cant sale just 1 glass, the District Manager was here today going through things, etc.  If the public knew how NICE things CAN get trashed around there, I think they'd be in shock!!
