I met
Bonnie Sheets, or Bonnie Martinez, through a prison penpal program, we wrote letter for about 6 months to each other just getting to know each other. She seemed like an honest person and we had build up a lot of trust. I told her about where I live at and she stated that she wanted to get out of Virginia, Her home state.
She asked me for help and if I could send her money for a ticket to come to Texas, I really didn't want to but I did anyway. Big mistake! I sent the money order to the prison she was in, then a couple of weeks later she stated that the Virginia Correctional Center for Women had purchased the ticket for greyhound, but now she needed money for food, as the bus trip takes about two days. I then sent her 22 dollars. She was released from prison on the 20th of January 2010.
I waited at the bus station for her and even called a couple of times, wondering what had happened I realized I had been scammed! It was not a good feeling, when someone pretend they are your friend and they just use you. I started looking in to her past and more lies have came out 1. she claimed to be a nurse and a tattoo artist, but inorder to be a nurse, you would have to have atleast a certificate, but she didn't even pass high school! 2. On her my space page,
http://www.myspace.com/kitikinz she claims to be Puerto Rican/Hispanic, but she is fully white (just as the prison states) She dies her hair black from her natural color brown to try to cover this. 3. She claims that she is from Richmond, Virginia, but is really in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
The lesson I have learned is don't help people, I will never help anyone again in my life. Why do people do this?
