Alfac Short-Term Disability Does Not Pay Off Nationwide

When I was signed up for my Short-Term Disability Policy through my work Aflac representative, he lead me to believe that once the policy was activated I would be entitled to receive money if I were to become ill and not be able to work. I had my policy that I paid into for about 9 months when I went on maternity leave July 5, 2007. I received a letter on July 31, 2007 stating that Aflac was researching my claim.
Today is September 6, 2007 and I still have not received anything in regards to being denied & I definitely have not seen any money yet. I called the Claims Department & the customer service rep. states he does not know why I was not informed that my claim had been denied because I would have had to pay into my policy for 10 months before Aflac would pay for my maternity leave.
Therefore, I feel that this is a ripoff policy because I could have saved the money that was taken out of my paychecks and put into a savings account & I would have had my money. Now the money I paid into Aflac is useless because I have opted to be a stay at home mom. What a waste of money & time. My advice would be not to even think about using Aflac unless you want to throw your money away. Thanks.
