    ...the right way!
    Corporate Advocacy Program
hi. I made a huge mistake by contacting Aspire through those stupid surveys that promise you gifts and then 3/4 of the way through it they tell you that you must sign up and pay for 2 or three items on several different pages! At the time I had already had major identity theft from another company who kept emptying my bank account. When Aspire called me they said that I would have to pay them a total of $200.00 in order to activate the account, otherwise I would lose my money. I was desparate at the time as my bank account had been stripped once again and it was Christmas. I reluctantly gave up $100.00 in the hopes that I would be able to do Christmas for my family. As it turned out, my account was stolen again, and being disabled with chronic pain and needing my monthly meds I wound up not having the extra $100.00 to activate the Aspire account. I missed Christmas and the one hundred dollars that I had already sent to Aspire.

That took place either last year or in 2004, I can't be sure because I am heavily medicated for pain. I never opened this so-called account because of the lack of extra money and I realized that it would just be stupid if I gave them another chance to accept me as I would have had to begin again by advancing another $200.00 to Aspire. Now it is year 2006. Last month, I received a letter from either Aspire or a collection agency saying that I owed them well over $900.00, but because they were being 'generous' they would only charge me $800.00! I never had this account opened so how in the world could I owe them any money?

Today, December 2, 2006, I was awakened by telephone from someone in collections who was male and very rude to me from the time I said hello. As I was trying to ask him questions he would raise his voice to me and tell me that he did not have to listen to me and would hang up. Why? I never once raised my voice, I only stated the above, that I had never activated the account and that I would like to please receive any paperwork that could show that I had actually used this card for any purchases. I know that there can't be anything of the sort but still I was very kind to him and he continued to talk over and above me and tell me that I had better go to the police to work out my problems with them and that I had better be ready to pay them in full!

I live only on disability and each month more than half of that goes towards medical expenses and what little food that I can afford for my diabetes. I don't like to be spoken to in such a manner, especially while I know that I did not get to activate that account and especially while I am fighting just to get up and only be able to sit very awkwardly due to the damage to my sciatic nerve.

To anyone out there who takes those surveys or are tempted to take them, please think twice because they are major scams that wind up sending you items that you never agreed to or asked for and then they will constantly send you bills, threaten you with lawsuits and treat you like dirt...all because they are greedy and non-caring people who only seem to enjoy making the lives of others miserable. Be very careful and just say NO to internet surveys and any other things online that make promises to you that are just too good to be true.
