I purchased a diamond bracelet at bidz.com for $613.00. A tag attached to the bracelet stated $2,100.00. I assumed this was a suggested retail price. It is not stated what this amount is except that if you offer to pay that amount, you can purchase the item and the auction is cancelled.
I bid and won the bracelet - I paid for the bracelet. Upon receipt I had the bracelet appraised - Jewelry store stated that the bracelet used promotional quality diamonds and the bracelet was worth maybe $300 - tops -
I called bidz customer service, explained my situation and requested a return # and the information needed to return the merchandise.
I returned the merchandise - 15 days later I recieved a note stating that I was refunded $510.00 - When I called customer service to inquire why I was not given a full refund, I was told that there was a 15% restocking fee.
I was never told about any restocking fee. When I complained the customer service agent told me that I was luck that bidz even accepted the bracelet back at all because #1 I requested a return more then 15 days past the purchase date (The jewelry store took 2 weeks to do the appraisal because it was December)
and because I did not have a good reason for returning the bracelet.
Bidz.com states that the tag on the bracelet is not a suggested retail price it is meerly the price that bidz wants of a customer chooses top purchase the item and cancel the auction.
I told him that description of the diamonds was superior to the actual diamond in the bracelet, he stated that the quality of the diamonds was open to interperation.
So I ended up paying $12.95 in postage to have the bracelet mailed to me, and then a 15% restocking fee of $90.00 and an additional shipping fee of $15.00 to ship it back.
Ridiculous - anyone viewing the jewelry on that site will see that the staff at bidz.com is definately implying the retail price of the jewelry and the quaility is the lowest that they can get away with -
the gold is 10K most of the time, the jewelry pieces are as light as they can be and the quality of the gemstones is as low as pssible -
the stones that were in my bracelet were of such a poor quality that my local jewelry store would not sell the bracelet on consignment. The jeweler stated that he would not seel diamonds of that poor quality in his shop.
Boy was I taken for a ride - Stay away from that site - they are a RIPOFF - save your money
