First off Centex appraised my house at much more than it was worth. I just had it reappraised, so I can sell it. It appraised at 100 thousand less than Centex. My husband was laid off for a couple of months, and we got behind with late charges.

Centex called my husbands work and our home each and every day.

Each call was from a different person, that said he had no knowledge of the previous caller.

In December of 2003, after speaking to Centex, my husband was very upset about the call, promptly had a masssive heart attack and died.

A payment was due on the day of his death. The last of my worries was with Centex. The day of the funeral Centex called wanting a payment. I told them I had just buried my husband, and I would return the call the next day. The voice on the other end told me "I doesn't matter your husband died, you still have to make your payment"
Two weeks later, my insurance company sent Centex a check for 100 hundred thousand dollars, cutting my loan by 2/3.
I have all my statements from the bank, and can prove that I only owe for this month. Centex says I owe for 3 months and are threatning to forclose.

Also Centex holds my checks untill after the late fee date, then cashes them, so they can charge me the late fee, which is $94.

I too wish that I never heard the name Centex.
They call my brother or mother-in-law if I am not at home to answer the phone.

Funny thing, they have my husbands death certificate, but ALWAYS ask for him when they call.

I just asked them for a payoff balance. Two hours later someone from the loan dept. called and wanted to know if I would like to finance my new home through Centex. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!
