It's been 3 years since I've heard from Clout Visa; having opened an account in 2004, I figured that it'd be my first card to help me start out in getting good credit. Having only purchased few things, recieving billing statements and paying monthly, things seemed to be going well. Until after I missed my first payment, having to pay late, I no longer recieved any billing statements. For a month or so I had to resort to going online to check out my account, find the balance and see what I owed.

When I got to a point of being unable to pay, no longer working, I canceled the card to avoid continual late payment charges and interest. Last I knew the balance was around $600.

Like I stated before..it's been 3 years since I've heard from Clout, and upon looking for the site it's no longer up, I had no information in which to contact them and had no idea that they'd been racking up continual purchases and late fees. So when I recieve a call, for the FIRST TIME, this July, I'm reached by debt collectors, and I'm told that I owe $1408. Also, I'm told that they've sent me letters since June, and I have not reached ONE letter from them.

I wanted to know why it is that I was contacted 3 years since my cancelment to pay them and why the amount was sky rocketed? But all that I was provided with was ' Well, we sent letters. ' They demanded that I come up with the money or it'd be placed as a refusal and it was likely that the Clout business themselves would take me to court and try to get me to pay a HIGHER price as a settlement.

I'm in no position to pay $1408, no more than I am to pay something HIGHER. With no way to view my last statement, last balance or why the interest, or other random purchases that could have been made to my account, I'm at a loss at what to do.

All I know is that several people on this site have been dealt with the same thing and some how Clout is coming out on top by scamming them, and myself, and recieving more money then initially owed.
