My mother has been getting junk mail at her address for my deceased neice for at least 2 years now from such companies as GTE and AARP. For one, the ´´GTE´´ motto is ´´We Bring Good Things To Life´´. My mother, very upset & offended, circled this portion of the junk mail, and wrote ´´I told you once before this person is deceased´´ & mailed it back to GTE.

As for AARP, my neice would only be 23 years old if she were alive today!! How can my mother get my neice´s name removed from mailing & phone lists to her home. These junk mail and marketing calls are causing emotional pain to my mother.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

AARP - stopping unwanted solititations and ADs

AUTHOR: Angel - WHITE OAK (U.S.A.)

I do know this can be very upsetting. I take these calls on a daily basis.

There is a simple way to stop these mailings. Call the mail AARP # .
Press complaints, or a general agent will help.
All they have to do is a "SUPPRESSION". It must use the exact name and address.
It takes approx 4-6 weeks to completely get out of the system.
I do this on a daily basis. Its simple, if you follow the directions.
KEEP THE ORIGINAL LETTER- it has special codes
I am assuming AARP uses an outside marketing company that doesnt cross reference with their system.

Hope this helps,

Reply by Letter

Phone call will not help much. Try sent them with Post Office "Certificate of Mailing" with letter and explain the problem also notes about you will file the sue (check with lawyer first for layout reading) if not resovle in three months from date of mail send. They will put the red flag faster.

That is how I did for my mother to stop all AARP packages.
