My husband,kids, and I went to a home show in Grand Rapids, Mi. On March 5, 2005 and we put our name/address/phone into many boxes to win prizes. One was name how much money was floating in a tube and if you guessed right or close you got to keep the money. I guessed $ 100.00.

On March 7 we got a call and we guessed the closest so we won $ 117.00 (which was the correct amount)and all we had to do was have someone come to our house and show us a presentation of their product. We scheduled for March 8 at 7:00 p.m. We also got our name in another drawing and were picked to win a 2 night/ 3 day trip to a resort on the brochure.

After the two men showed up at 8:15 (better late then never) on MArch 8 they stayed and showed us their product which was the Rainbow vacuum and purifier and it was $ 1800.00. You have got to be kidding me! We decided it was too much and not to purchase it. The man kind of got angry but packed up and left. No $ 117.00
was ever mentioned and by that time it was 10:30 p.m.
The next day I called the J & M Distributor (on the caller id) to ask about my money I won. The man didn't know and told me that he would call the main office and call me back.

I called him back on March 10 and was told that someone else guessed exactly $ 117.00 and they made an error and we didn't win. I guessed we didn't win because we didn't purchase what they had to sell. an overpriced vacuum at $ 1800.00. ridiculous!

I am sending this so everyone know that the Rainbow Vacuum and Purifier is a rip off and if you don't buy it they won't give you the prize money that is promised to you. Our first home show and it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I will never go to one of those shows again. It's a rip off. They had no intentions of ever paying off.

They probably told everyone that they won $ 117.00 just to get you in there house. this is a scam so beware of anyone calling telling you that you won something at a home show.

Please understand that these practices are not the Standard Operating Procedure for Rainbow. The great majority of dealers operate by everytime they promise a gift the customer has gotten it whether they bought the Rainbow or not, the deal is all they have to do is let them demo it for them. It sounds as if you were dealing with some individuals who are going about their business the wrong way. There have been people who have tried to take shortcuts or be dishonest to try and make fast money. Those individuals have always been fired when the distributor was notified.

Rainbow systems are actually sold mainly by a company called Rex-air and are distributed by business owners around the country. I looked up your zip code on the website http://www.rainbowsystem.com and found the office is different then the one you were reporting. So it is safe to say the the Regional Distributor is unaware of these practices. I would suggest giving this office a call. Here is their information:

Ask for the Regional Distributor, let them know you have an issue with one of his distributorships in Lansing, MI. If you get no help go to the website I gave you and contact Rex-air directly. They will take it up with the Regional Distributor and most likely the local one as well. I am sorry that you had such an experience and those who did your demonstration obviously do not understand how their business works.
