I ordered the third party tracer packet hoping to help people recover a mortgage insurance refund owed to recipients by HUD. The refunds are from the FHA loans. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I discovered that the listings that I received were outdated when I started receiving numerous return addresses. The listings were of no value. That was why Nationwide Consumer Information Service was giving away the listings when you buy the CD Rom. Additional listings were sold at very low prices. If this tracer business was profitable, Nationwide Consumer Information Service should be processing these refunds. It is easier for them to send old listings and make lots of money. Do not be fooled, I cannot imagine the hundreds of consumers that will be sold the same old information. This company recycles the same old information to probably thousands of people otherwise they will not be in business. Their return policy tells tracers to try the home business for 90days and if the tracer is not making at least $600 per month, the package could be returned for a $99.00 refund. Please!!! According to their guarantee, anyone that purchases this package would have spent $600.00 by sending out 60 letters per week without making any money. Do not fall for the guarantee; the $99.00 will not replace all the money spent for stamps, envelopes, labels, ink etc. The guarantee is basically at the tracer’s expense. I found out that refund recipients can process the refund themselves without going through a tracer. A recipient can request their refund by filing the necessary documents directly with HUD at no cost. Nationwide Consumer Information Service claims that listings are updated regularly to remove the names of people that have claimed their refunds, do not believe that information. You might be one of those people that will receive the cycled information. Just think about it for a minute, what are the chances of a profit if the same information is sent around the country; even if the listings are fresh from the oven. Some will have to be first in line to get the current listing. I was one of the ones that received an old listing. Save your money!!!! Nationwide Consumer Information Service needs to disclose to the public that old listings are sent to thousands of people and those tracers may not receive any fee for service rendered to process the refunds. Their guarantee only benefits their company with the the type of scam they are running. This entire experience was a complete waste of time and money. Nationwide Consumer Information Service is promoting and selling CD ROMs with outdated listing to consumers. I have requested a full refund of my purchase price plus expenses. Their outdated listing cost me unnecessary spending in materials. I sent an email requesting a refund but I have not had from Nationwide Consumer Information.

Nationwide Consumer Information Service Tracer program is working for me. Nationwide Consumer Information Service Customer Service has been great!

AUTHOR: Amanda W - Sandy (U.S.A.)

When I ran across this report I was kind of surprised since the Tracer program is working fine for me. It's not a get-rich-quick program by any means and it does take a while to start getting responses to process, but I've made money with it. By reading Tannie's report the main thing I'm getting is that she is not satisfied with the lists and says they are "outdated" or of no value. I haven't paid for any listings from Nationwide Consumer Information Service since I got a free state list with the QuickTracer Pro software. I update the same state list for free as often as I want. I get responses from those lists just fine. I also get about half of what I send out returned undeliverable, so I can see why she might think the lists are the problem. Unfortunately that is part of the process and part of the reason you send out many more than you expect to get back. The only way her lists would be outdated is if she did not update them. It's free, so why not get updates to the list? People are added to the list once they have gone 2 years without claiming the refund and removed from the list once the refund has been issued, so the list is constantly changing. You can also get the lists directly from HUD, but it is more expensive and the lists can't be updated for free from HUD.

Another thing Tannie said is that people can get the refund themselves without going through a tracer, which is true, but will they? If they were going to process the refund on their own wouldn't they have done that in the first 2 years the refund was due back to them before they were placed on the list as unclaimed? When I send them the letter explaining they have a refund due back to them and that I'll help them process the paperwork to get the refund issued all they have to do is sign and return the form I included with the letter. I'm not showing them how to get it on their own, just how to go through me to get the refund issued. If they don't sign the form and return it to me they have no more information than they had before about how to go about claiming the refund on their own. I don't need a response from everyone to make money.

I didn't buy this just to get a refund for it. Just buying it doesn't make it work. I bought it to start my own business, and after looking around there aren't many businesses you can start for such a small investment. I don't see how the money back guarantee only benefits their company since they have to give your money back if it does not work. The expenses I have are tax deductible as a business expense so I save my reciepts for tax time and get the deduction like any other business. This has been a great opportunity for me to stay at home with my family and still earn money.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Go to the HUD website and read the OFFICIAL HUD / FHA warning on this SCAM!!

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (U.S.A.)

HUD has an official warning out to warn people of this SCAM.

Here it is right from HUD:
http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/comp/refunds/alerts.cfm

DO NOT pay anyone for any reason to be a "HUD / FHA refund tracer".

This is total NONSENSE! Those lists are so old that most people have moved several times and/or are dead! And, once you notify them of the "refund" due them, they bypass you and you get NOTHING!!

I tried this thing myself about 19 years ago, and it sucked then!

FYI..These types of loans in general have not been issued since the early 80's on which these refunds apply.

AND, there is a 6 year statute of limitations on getting your HUD / FHA refund from the government.

Check out the lists for yourselves, ALL of the names on the lists that are due refunds are at least 10 years old!

How do you spell SCAM

However, people like Matt Williams at EagleSoftwareServices .com will repeatedly advertise "jobs" on Craigslist and other free job boards on this fantastic "JOB".

Don't fall for it.
Do your homework on this thing in general, and on Mr. Williams.
