Oakwood Acceptance rip-off! Greensboro North Carolina

My husband and I purchased a home from Oakwood Acceptance in 1998, after our home burned down. We did not get the home we ordered through Oakwood via Freedom Homes. Nothing we ordered came with the home, not even the colors. We did not know this until they delivered it and started setting it up.

Also since my husband and I knew nothing about purchasing a home we put $20,000.00 down for downpayment, and they did not deduct it from the price, they said it would be worked out by the setup and block foundation we were having them put in. The floors were uneven, the windows cracked, the foundation cracked, everything happened, We contacted the Attorney General for our state, and he made them come and fix some things, and did not help us get our downpayment back or even deducted from our balance.

To top it all off three years later my husband developed cancer had to quit work and so did I to take care of him. No money! I called Oakwood they said they did have an emergency medical fund but I was too late. I told them we were giving home back to them voluntarily, they told me ok no problem it would not be on credit report since it was vouluntary. Their attorney sent us a check for one dollar and papers to sign, that they were buying the home and the land back from us for one dollar. Well, guess what, it is on our credit report foreclosure!
