Basically this company promises to find you a roommate or your money back HA!!! I tried calling for a refund for over 5 weeks and I was being told that they would call me right back. It never happened. The funny part is it was the same guy i talked to every time. After I got the "ill have someone get right back to you" line for the 10th time i became impatient and i expressed myself to this gentleman. He hung up on me.He didnt answer for the rest of that day. The only other person I talked to was very rude and hung up on me as well. They charge a $29 fee for their services. Its just a huge rip-off !!

Refund misunderstood.

AUTHOR: Chris - Los Altos (U.S.A.)

Having worked at Roommate Express, there is certainly was never a promise to refund the small fee if a roommate is not found - except for a $5 deposit kept if a client didn't tell us when they got a roommate and we got a complaint that they are no longer looking. That was to keep the active list of clients truly active and not waste new client's time. I have never heard of any competitor offering a full refund either. How could we have ever proven otherwise? A client could and does say anything sometimes. With the fees so low, it was certainly worth the small fee to have us help in getting a roommate - for the screening, reference checks, extra advertising we'd do. Extra advice we'd offer. I always thought we offered a good service. I found 2 roommates myself through the company. Anyway, we'd also have hard to match people too, who got fewer matches. It happens. This guy sounds like he confused the deposit with the main fee - although I am not sure because it's been years since i worked there. RE started in 1986 so they must be doing something right.
