in 1995 i entered into a contract to publish my book with vantage press i had not previously submitted my manuscript to anyone else. They said they would publish it for the amount stated some $6350 US DOLLARS and they did, they sent me app 20 copies and said they had shipping problems getting it to the uk where i live. i had book signings arranged and radio interviews, my book never arrived.
i am having my book republished now with a proper publishers for a percentage of sales. my first edition of this book is currently on the web with amazon and some other fourteen sites being sold for $7.50 in canada to £122.00 uk pounds if ordered form the us and 171.43 euro in germany. also the print run says 19995-2002 i have never received a penny form vantage they never fufilled there contract but, because i am in the uk they have got away with it.
I just stumbled across this when doing some research my literary agent told me they found my work sutible for publishing anyway and are staking there reputation on it. i just wish i had put a little more faith in myself. and not my hard earned money into vantages pockets.
they were also very abrupt when i have called them that has cost me even more.
i hope that they are held accountable for what they have done to authors.
