if you are late one day withy your payment they will charge you $39.
- You mean like every other Credit Card out there?
If you call them to say "It was your first time. You are sorry and you will never do it again!", they will say "too bad" we don't reverse charges
- A lot of time the waiving of a fee, such as the late payment fees, is determined by your account history. So if you have a history of being close to your limit, which is sounds like it may be a possibility, the chances of them making an exception is small. But again this is just about how every other credit card will do it.
The worst thing is they keep changing the payment due date!!*** That way you can't be on a schedule. If you forget to check the due date, you are doomed and you will have to pay the $39.
- Seriously, you don't have 30 Seconds to review the Due Date? By the way I have Chase(ex WaMu) and I can not recall my due date changing by more than a day possibly two. If that really messes up your "schedule", that is a good indication that you perhaps have some finanicial issues that are going to have to be addressed
One time I did not know that on that day my card was charged the finance charges. Finance charges put my account at a point where only $1.00 was left on my account. I went to Starbucks and bought coffee for $2.00 and then chased charged me $39.
- Again Seriously? You don't know that you are charged finance charges. So you maxed out the card and are upset that in combination with a purchase you went over. Yes, when the finance charges put you within a $1 of your limit..you have MAXED it out. Most likely you did the purchase before they assessed the charges, or it was an offline approval because of the low amount. Unlike at the Point of Sale they can not decline the finance charges or if it the system was off-line and submited at a later point. So if the finance charges put you over..well you get hit with the fee.
While we can not give you a refund, we could send you some training material so you will know how to avoid charges"
- Your right how dare they actually offer to send you items on how to AVOID these fees. I highly suggest that you take them up on this offer. They probably will go over things in a lot more detail, but here are 3 very simple things that would avoid these extra fees such as Over the Limit and Late Payment fees.
1. Review your statement EVERY month. This not only include to verify the charges but the due date.
2. Make sure your payment arrives by the Due Date.
3. NEVER even put yourself into a situation where you are near your limit. The best credit scores are for people who do not spend more than 30% of their limit. If you say well every charge I made was a necessity..really? Just when did Starbucks become a necessity.
4. If you can not pay it off every month. Pay as much as you can to avoid paying as much interest.
Good Luck, but the only RipOff here is the one you are causing yourself.
