I was checking my credit reports (Experian, TransUnion & Equifax) and found Palisades Collection LLC reported that I owed them $6000.00. Well when I saw that I was in a state of shock.

I contacted the company by letter on 1/28/03 and received no response. I disputed this item on all 3 credit reports and they stated they Palisades Collection responded to them, but not to me.

I then sent them another letter on 3/29/03 requesting in writing all documentation to support there claim that I owed them money. To date I still have not received any documentation from them. This is still showing up on all my credit reports and it is ruining my credit. I just paid all my credit card bills off and this one I know is just a scam. If anyone else out there has had Palisades Collection LLC try to get money from you, please let me know.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

take the argument to the reporting agencies

AUTHOR: S - Dodge City (U.S.A.)

Try the following:

File a small claims suit in court against the credit reporting bureaus. They had only 30 days to verify the debt on the report. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/fcra.htm Since they failed to respond to your written request of validation within the thirty days you are eligible to sue the reporing agency (ies) for $1000 (each) plus court costs. When you file suit, be sure to get a supeona requiring all documentation used and received by the reporting agency (ies) in their investigation. Require that the response to your supeona be within 48 hours of receipt of the subpeona. This won't give them time to "manufacture" an investigation (and the documentation) that it sounds like was never done to begin with.

If the agencies do not respond to your suit within 30 days, you file a motion for "summary judgement" meaning you win by default.

Here are the sections of US Law:

http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/casecode/uscodes/15/chapters/41/subchapters/iii/sections/section_1681i.html

http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/casecode/uscodes/15/chapters/41/subchapters/iii/sections/section_1681n.html

If you really want to get the reporting bureaus attention read the following link, then advise the reporting bureaus that you have been defamed.

Cannot get any documentation from Palisades Collection

AUTHOR: Melissa - Mahwah (U.S.A.)

I had an AT&T Wireless account in 1999. It has since been closed and apparently they are claiming that I owe $1400. But I received nothing from AT&T Wireless at all in the past 5 years until July 2004 when I received a letter from Palisades Collection. I called to find out what this was for and not only were they rude, but after I disputed the claim, they reported it to the Credit Bureau. I requested over the phone and in writing to receive verification of this and still to date have received nothing. I recently obtained a copy of my Credit Report and found that not only did AT&T Wireless report this in 1999, but Palisades reported the same amount in August of 2004. How can the same debt be on my report twice? Palisades does not even say who they are representing. I don't believe that I owe this money, unfortunaely I do not have my bank records from 1999 anymore to prove it. Why wait 5 years to contact me about a debt?

Me Also! I have not ordered anything from AT&T ever!

AUTHOR: Adria - Pasadena (U.S.A.)

I just looked at my credit report and to my surprise, a AT&T charge was on there in July 2004. I have not ordered anything from AT&T ever. I am very upset. This is ruining my credit.
