I saw an ad for a rental home on Craigslist. I replied to the email provided and was immediately responded to with a general response asking me to fill out a credit report and give personal information before I could set up a showing of the property. I did a search for Simon Rentals and came across several rip off reports here in this site in various cities and states. The other rip off reports I read all said the same thing.
The CL listing did not give a specific city/state and was very vague. The rental price was WAY too good to be true, so I knew it was, but still sent an email to see if I would get a response.
Some of the email:
The screening process consists of a free credit check performed by our partner company. Once you complete the free credit check you will be given a transaction id # from the credit agency. Please forward the transaction id # to simonrentalsinc@gmail.com. Please do not forward your credit report – We can verify the information we need by your transaction id #. If everything checks out OK you will be contacted to arrange a convenient time to meet and see the property.
