I applied for a AAA credit card which boasted 0% financing on balance transfers until 08. Seemed like a great deal! After getting the card, I found out B of A was behind it. I thought OK, no big deal. So I set up automatic payment and 2 months later - SCAM!!!
In looking at my statement I noticed a finance charge of $39.00 and they were charging me interest on the balance transfer.
When I called them, the representative told me that I was late on my payment & all original privileges were revoked. I told her that I had the account setup on bill pay and that there must be a discrepancy on their end. She indicated I should check with the company that handles my bill pay.
I then brought it to her attention that they changed the due date. She said, notice was sent. I said, I never received it. She said it was sent out. Back & forth...etc. I asked to speak to a supervisor & she then told me that all the charges would be removed. We'll see
I detail the above, because it seemed that this customer service representative was trained as a low down & dirty boiler room operator on commission to make the customer go away & accept the scam.
This predatory practice of changing the payment due date, only serves the financial interests of the greedy, Bank of America. The end result can be detrimental to its customers. It also discredits AAA (American Automobile Association) whom I am confident, are well aware of B of A's unethical tactics.
No other word for it... SCAM!
Class action anyone?
