Okay first you CAN NOT be reported late on your credit report unless you are at least 30 days late. So if you are saying that you paid 1 Hour late(we will get to that in a minute), and they reported you 30 days late on your credit report. That is against the Fair Credit Reporting Act, you can dispute it and have it removed.
You waited until your payment due date and it does not matter if it is 1 minute or 1 day after the cut-off time. It is still considered late, and you may not think it was the next day. But as far as they are concerned it is. Fair or not that is in the terms you agreed to. Had you made it 1 hour before it is still on the due date, but the late payment would be a non-issue(again we'll get into that as well). Now, most of the time credit card companies will forgive the late payment fee the first time. But this still depends on your overall history with them and it not guaranteed, especially if you have other "credit issues" such as being close to your limit.
You stated that you did not pay the minimum, but sent a hundred dollars. I am hoping you meant you paid MORE than the minimum and not less, but based on the rest of your statements I feel that it might have been less. Because if you paid less, then you did not make the minimum due and even if you did get it in before the cut-off time the late fee would stand. So would the 30-Day late if you had not paid the minimum required for at least 30 days.
If you paid more and a single late fee and interest still put you over your limit then you were already in the "danger zone" by having a maxed out credit card. You used this card by your own free will, they were not behind you forcing to use the card up to where you had. In the end it was YOUR choice, regardless of what you feel your situation was or if you THINK you had to use it. If you are having issues you may want to look in your area for Credit Counseling(not Debt Settlement)
