After receiving offers from Capital One in the mail ALL the time for a long time, I finally accepted an offer to transfer a balance on another card.

I'm VERY sorry I did. What a frustrating experience.

The first statement I received said I had missed the first payment. What?? Supposedly, this was actually my "second" statement. So NOW I owed the previous month and the current month plus a hefty late charge and the finance charge!

Long story short - I spoke with Customer Service and things seemed to go well. They seemed to understand and refunded my late charge and the finance charge. I immediately paid the amount for the "first" and second statement and thought I was all set. I have a credit score in the 9's (last time I heard - really) so I wanted to start off on the right foot.

Well, statement "3" arrives (second one I actually received) - with a $70.00+ finance charge. I called to ask them about it and was told I'd lost my original 0% Interest Offer because I was late paying the "first" bill and, going forward, I would now have to pay 11.99% APY interest charges on the balance transfer amount.

I've never had anything like this happen before. The people I spoke with were very condescending.

Frustrated, I closed the account to future (charge) activity and said I would just pay the amount down. After some thought, I called Customer Relations to see if I could speak with someone else. Maybe the first guy was just having a bad day.

Big mistake. My frustration level was about to go through the roof. I spoke to another person and told her what had happened. She said since I had closed the account, there was nothing she could do. "You shouldn't have closed it -- that line is now revoked..." I corrected her and said that I had **elected** to close the account - it was NOT revoked by Capital One.

There's so much more to this but the main idea is that the Customer Service this time was VERY disappointing. Smoke and mirrors, folks - watch out. They had an answer for everything. How aggravating that they bugged the 'heck' out of me for SO LONG with all their unsolicited mail and I - finally - and stupidly - got taken in. So just watch out.
