Chase Manhattan Bank Credit Card Bank Robbery...."Returned" Check fees Louisville Kentucky

I recently attempted to pay my Chase credit card online. My payment was rejected since I left off one digit when I entered my checking account #. Chase charged me $39 return check fee since the bank was not able to locate the account number. The $39 fee caused my balance to go over the limit, so Chase charged me another $39.

I called Chase to resolve the matter and was informed that even thought the mistake was obvious on my part the $39 fees would not be credited to my account. My other credit card issuer, Citibank, verified the account before allowing me to post payments. They also had me enter the checking account number twice to avoid data entry errors. Chase did neither.

I closed my Chase account but wanted to inform your readers of this practice which in my opinion is bank robbery.
