Fleet Credit Card Services has been a thorn in my side ever since it was acquired from Advanta. I was late by 2 days on a payment about 6 or 7 years ago and because of this, even though I had an excellent standing with the card otherwise and had excellent credit, my interest rate jumped from 14% to 21%! My other major credit card company has consistently lowered my interest rate without me even requesting so. I've called Fleet numerous times in the last few months and have asked them if they can lower my interest rate, and even when they view my account and admit that I am an EXCELLENT customer, in EXCELLENT standings with them, with EXCELLENT credit, they cannot offer me a lower interest rate! When I ask why, they tell me their "Promotions Dept." isn't offering any at this time. THey have NO LOYALTY or fairness when it comes to thier customer.

Another issue with them that really bother me is that, after viewing my TransUnion credit report it shows that they do an inquiry on my credit every single month, and that this was has been going on consistently every month for years. I don't know if constant inquiries like this have negative effects on your credit score like people say they do, but regardless I see these monthly checks as unnecessary so I contacted Fleet, now Fleet/Bank of America about it and asked them to please discontinue doing so. Some ignorant representative told me that they were just informing the credit bureaus every month that I still had an account with them. NONSENSE! Credit card bureaus' do not need a credit card company to check in with them every month to tell them that you still have an account with them.

They really have horrible customer service ethics and I'm not surprised that I'm not the only one with a gripe about them.
