situation one: merrick bank allowed my credit card to go over the limit by $120.00. part of it is my fault because i work four days each week from 4 pm - 4 am and did not keep track of my spending. i received a $39.00 over limit fee. i called and was told the merchant had "pushed" the transactions through!!!!!!!!!! i know i am not lacking in common sense, but this was a very stupid answer from a bank. i told them they had a revenue generating scham. i also told them thank you for informing me of your useless security system. i paid all the fees and one week later, they computed their monthly fees and placed me in the same situation i just got out of. jerks.
situation two: i made a credit card payment and was told it had been applied to the principle. merrick bank told me because i had made my payment BEFORE the 15th of the month, it did not count as a payment. merrick bank also told me i could only make my monthly payment seven days before the due date. as long as i make my payment within the required month, what gives them the right to make up their revenue generating rules?
jerks.
