It looks like there are over 90 filings at ripoffreport.com in regards to the inhuman and completely irresponsible "business" practices this company has been conducting for quite some time.

In our case, we've been pushed into signing a 4-year long lease contract at the rate of approx. 60+ bucks a month (which equalls approx. $3000) for a credit card processing device that normally costs $500-$600 new. I've also noticed that most of our co-sufferers on this website point out the fact that their lease agreement has a lot of "microscopic fine print" and that it equals to an agreement with devil when selling your soul.

Now, add the lack of knowledge for non-English speaking individuals and you got yourself a perfect rip-off recipe. We've have been in contract with them for the past 12 months and have been paying whenever we can. I've made some effort to cancel direct bank account draft and I would advise everyone to do the same. Also, do not forget that Northern is also signing you up for at least another 3-4 different "merchant service" providers without your prior knowledge or consent - surprised?.

Please make sure you cancel those too because they add up to over $100 per month (I had to cancel Discover Merchant Services which cost some 20+ bucks and AMEX service which cost 15 bucks per month).

PLEASE DO remember not to pay them by check but rather by a credit card and after they've tried to call you 150 times in 5 days. This way they will lose the automated cash flow, their personnel will eventually give up on their low-life meaningless jobs, and subsequently, the company will go out of business (one way or another).

P.S.

Dear Amy,
Please save yourself time from rebutting to my posting as it won't do us both any good and will just piss me off even further.

You will be hearing back from us in January when our attorney finalizes the class-action lawsuit paperwork and besides for the rip-off, we are planning on suing you for the racial disrimination by your telephone customer "service" representatives (we have it recorded by the way).

Yours trully,

Miguel

Just About Enough

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 03, 2005

In the past, I've posted about how it is the responsibility of the business owners to find out the facts before signing one of these ripoff leases with these companies. After being approached by several credit card machine company's representatives and being flat out lied to, to my face, no less, it's time something is done. Their sales reps will do whatever it takes to lease their wares. Now the interesting thing about this is that you get an individual like amy who will say either you should have known or should have read or should have understood that.... while all the time some sales rep is saying something totally opposite or that's not true or don't worry about it or you'll have no problem turning the machine over to another company, where we know that's not the truth. Now I've been in business for 22+ years and know a line and a crook when I hear and see one. Several years back, joe from Rino promised he could get me a new T7P for $250. Called Steve, a friend, who worked for Lynx. He said no way. Set up an appointment with joe. joe arrives to met with me and Steve and does the fastest backpeddle job I've ever seen before I kick him out. The moron from transaction merchant services tells me my new machine won't cost me a cent. "The IRS will pay for it". I wonder what the IRS would say about that? He tried to sell it to me for $66 per month for 60 months. $3960 for a machine I could have bought for $800. A couple of my wife' relatives open some type of out of the house business. Some cc rep convince them they need TWO cc machines at the house, one for each of them. The most common thread in most of these posts is that the reps pry on new inexperienced individuals lacking in any type of business sense and they get whacked from the gitgo. These scumbag reps load them up with all sorts of crap they don't need and then lie to them, on top of that. I notice very few of the reps last more then a short period of time and then they're off to another scam. Then we're back to amy, trying to defend her company and institution and her line. But that's to be expected. We as companies and as individuals have had just about enough and amy, if you and your businesses don't start controlling themselves you'll probably start looking at government intervention.

How kind of you... THIS IS FLAT OUT CRIMINAL AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LEGITIMATE BUSINESS PRACTICES.

AUTHOR: Miguel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 03, 2005

We have already tried to resolve this issue, which btw. wasn't an issue at all because we contacted you, yes you and your New York office, JUST TWO DAYS after signing the lease for returning the equipment WHICH WAS BEEN RETURNED to the "INDEPENDENT SALES ORGANIZATION" aka. ORGANIZED CRIME OUTLET sponsored by NORTHERN LEASING the same day. Your "INDEPENDENT SALES ORGANIZATION" has told us in SPANISH that if we decide to cancel the agreement, it will not be a problem at all and to IGNORE the "non-cancellation" policy. Is this maybe a result of "bad sales training" or perhaps a DELIBERATE INTENTION TO SCAM A 63 year old woman out of her hard earned money???

THIS IS FLAT OUT CRIMINAL AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LEGITIMATE BUSINESS PRACTICES. WE HAVE PRESENTED YOUR LEASE AGREEMENT TO SEVERAL LEGAL COUNSELS AND EVERY ONE OF THEM CONFIRMS THAT IS BEYOND ANYTHING THEY HAVE SEEN IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL CAREER.

THIS A LEASE FOR A $500 CREDIT CARD PROCESSING DEVICE FOR GOD'S SAKE, NOT A $40000 SUV!!!

What's enough is ENOUGH!

NLSI Response to Merchant Complaint

AUTHOR: Amy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 02, 2005

Dear Miguel,

I've read your complaint and although I understand that you are not interested in resolving this matter with our company I would still like to offer you my assistance and provide you with information regarding our lease agreement.

The Independent Sales Organization that assisted you with this transaction did not demand that you lease equipment from our company. You/your company made the decision to lease the equipment. By signing the lease agreement and completing the verification process, you/your company agreed to all of the terms and conditions of the lease.

There is "fine print" on our lease. It is a contract and consists of four pages of terms and conditions. The font size of the print is completely legible. Northern Leasing Systems cannot assume responsibility for any merchant who chooses not to read the contract before signing it.

The lease contract is written in English. If the merchant interested in leasing equipment does not speak English as a first language, and is unable to completely comprehend the language in the lease contract, it is expected that the merchant would Not sign the contract.

Northern Leasing Systems Inc is an equipment finance company. We do not "sign up merchants for..3-4 different 'merchant service' providers without your [the merchants]prior knowledge or consent.."

When leasing a credit card machine it is necessary for the merchant to be set up with a processing bank through which the merchant will receive the funds from credit card transactions. The Independent Sales Organization handles this aspect of the transaction. Northern Leasing Systems is not affiliated with any processing bank. Northern Leasing's role is exclusively to handle the financing of the asset [the equipment].

The verification process at Northern Leasing Systems is a safeguard for both the merchant and our company. Before accepting any lease, our verification department goes over all the terms and conditions of the lease agreement with the merchant either verbally or in the form of a "delivery and acceptance receipt". The merchant must either verbally acknowledge acceptance of the lease, or sign and initial a delivery and acceptance sheet acknowledging acceptance of the lease.

The Northern Leasing Systems lease clearly states on both Pages One and Two that it is a non-cancelable lease.

If you would like to terminate your lease early, your options are as follows:

*You may contact our Customer Service Department and discuss the early buyout option. This would essentially mean paying off your lease now, rather then over the remainder of the lease term.
[As outlined in Section 14/15 of your lease].

*Find a commercial business that would like to take over the equipment/lease and contact our Customer Service Department to discuss the procedure for lease transfer. [As outlined in Sections 13/14 of your lease].

If you do not wish to pursue one of these options, you will be responsible for your monthly lease payment until the end of the lease term. You may then return the equipment (or purchase it), and cancel the lease.

Northern Leasing Systems would like to assist you with this matter. Unfortunately, our company is unable to allow a merchant out of the equipment finance lease because of buyers remorse, or because the merchant choose not to read the terms and conditions of the lease before agreeing to it.

I am sincerely sorry that you are unhappy with your equipment, and with Northern's service.

If you decide you would like to discuss your lease, please feel free to contact me directly at: (212)457-8564 or Toll Free at: 1-800-683-5433, ext. 8564.

Northern Leasing Systems would like to work with you to resolve your issue.

Sincerely,
