I've never been late with a payment. All accounts I hold are automatically sent through my bank electronically on the 1st or 2nd of the month - depending on if the day lands on a weekend or holiday. (such as New Year's Day or a Sunday)

Imagine my surprise, when I received a bill from Target saying I owed an additional $39.00 in LATE FEES for a payment they did not process until Jan. 10th. It was deducted from my bank account on January 2nd, and not DUE until January 8th. Target posted it on their bill as January 10th and issued this LATE FEE.

This is outrageous, as every single account I hold elsewhere is able to process their payments on or before the 6th of the month. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. This excludes Target - who delayed entering my payment until two days past the due date.

My minimum payment was only $10.00 (ten) dollars and I paid $50.00 (fifty) as is customary with all my bills to pay more then requested. I am livid as now my credit score will reflect a late payment, interest rates from other cards may rise, and even employment opportunities can be affected by Target's inefficiency. TARGET'S INEFFICIENCY.

When I called the 800 number Target provided on the back of the bill, I was greeted with a polite yet hard to understand "Indian". He read through his reply with words like "just this once" and "you are only authorized to have $19.00 taken off". This is unacceptable. The full late fee amount should be deducted, and "just this once" does NOT make me feel "special" or that I'm receiving any "favors". I expect FAIRNESS. Nothing more.

If Target can not process their payments in a timely manner, they will lose customers. If they try to squeeze this $39.00 from me in the form of a late fee, (of a $10.00 minimum payment) it will be the last money they ever pull from my wallet and I will not step foot in their stores ever again. I WILL NOT STEP FOOT IN THEIR STORE - EVER AGAIN.

No worries

AUTHOR: Fastred - Gilbert (U.S.A.)

Hello,

I work for a credit card company myself and I just wanted to let you know that 90 percent of credit card companies don't report you late until you hit the 31st day of being past due. I know this is sure for Target as well. Although you feel you didn't deserve that late fee at least you can sit more comfortable knowing it has not effected you credit score or your future potential to buy things on credit.

P.S. If you ask for a supervisor they will transfer you to Americans. But thats about as high as it goes. If you ask for a supervisor past them you will most likely have to wait to get a call back.

Late Fee

AUTHOR: Thomas - Columbia Heights (U.S.A.)

Call them back and request that they remove the entire late fee! If you have proof it was taken on the 2nd, then show that, IF you paid it via the webiste, the payment is effective that day or the next, regardless of when it comes out of your account. If you get someone in India, ask to be transferred to the US then - not a problem.
