Yesterday I received a check from HSBC Mastercard for $9.95. In the information provided, it states that by cashing the check I am signing up for a membership program called Complete Home. With a $65 yearly membership fee.

NEEDLESS to say - I did not cash the check!

However I did make a copy of it just before running THE CHECK through the shredder. I also made note on the copy that the original was shredded and the date.

I had already cancelled unauthorized 2 membership programs on my HSBC statement and was told I had cashed this type of credit card company check before and that is how we signed up for them. Those programs were Travellers Advantage and Passport TO Fun. Both are programs I had no need for and never would knowingly have signed up for.

As we always shred those checks and NEVER CASH them, being told I had indeed cashed the check is why I made a copy of this latest check and wrote the date it was shredded on it.

Carefull with those checks and keep close tabs on your statements for the illegal unauthorized charge activity that the credit card company IS ACTIVELY involved in.

If you find them - file a fraud complaint with your credit card, the FTC and here on Ripoff Report.

TLG- Trilegiant Corporation has already paid over $14 million in fines for this type of illegal activity and went right back to doing it again, and the credit card company is helping them rip us off.
