these jerks were on a contest and offers site i use. they offered a no deposit, low interest card, which i was checking out to maybe consolidate our other high interest accounts, when all of a sudden a pop-up came up saying you are approved for $7500 platinum card and we are taking $415 from your bank account.
needless to say i tried to cancel the transaction at once, but could not. then i tried to call the 800 # provided in the e-mail i recieved, and could not get through till the next afternoon. at that time i was told the withdrawel had been sent out at 9:30 that morning. i called my bank and now have a $20 stop payment to cover, if they can
these jerks need to be put out of business.

well, after reading the posts on this page, i've come to a conclusion. mostly everyone who has posted something on this page hasn't read the terms and conditions provided on the application online as well as the paragraph before you enter your banking information.
if everyone would have read that information, then it wouldn't be necessary to post anything on this website. both the fee and terms and conditions are provided online... so please read them before you apply. it would help a lot of people, especially yourselves.

Federal Regulation Z "The Truth in Lending Act" was written to specifically protect consumers from fees being hidden in the fine print. It requires fees (including a fee for establishing the account) to be disclosed prominently, in a table with headings.
This disclosure is required to be made in ALL solicitations.
I'm sure that they convince the employees that what they are doing is legal because of the fine print. But it isn't.

Steven,
It sounds like you know your stuff. Fortunitley the website where you apply for the USA platinum card doesn't list the fees in fine print, infact before you even submit your application you must click on a box that says you understand the fee will be debited the following business day. Right before you type in your banking info the fees are listed in the same size print as the application. I worked for USA credit and they by any means arn't trying to hide the fee. These customers who didn't want to pay the fee should have read what they were applying for. Thanks!

The fees need to be listed prominently, and in TABULAR format (use a dictionary). Furthermore, it is a violation of the electronic funds transfer act to condition any extension of credit on repayment via direct debit of the bank account.

WOW THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTELLEGENT COMMENTS. APPARENTLY YOU READ EVERY PAGE EVERY DETAIL OF EVERY CONTRACT YOU HAVE EVER SIGNED. YOUR WISDOM GOES WITHOUT WORDS. I WAS ALSO A VICTIM OF USA CREDIT AND THEY CLEVERLY DISGUISE THEIR FEES AND SERVICES. IF SOMEONE IS ON THE WEB LOOKING FOR A PAYDAY LOAN DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY CAN AFFORD $149.95 BEING DEBITED FROM THEIR ACCOUNT? HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?

Like Steven I read the fine print, it is the only way to ensure that you know what you are agreeing to and don't get ripped off.
I visited this USA Platinum place and on the credit app I entered that my name is John Doe and and a bunch of other bull.
I made it to a page that asked me to enter my Social Security number and other info that screamed Identity Theft if I filled it in. Lower it wanted my bank routing number and account number for my checking account. Under that and right above the Continue button there is a box you need to check that says you agree to the terms and conditions.
The words Terms and Conditions is linked to getagreatdealnow.com/terms/terms.html, they cover themselves very good in the wording from what little I read.
If you didn't fill out the boxes with your bank account number AND check that box, they wouldn't be able to bill your checking account.
If it was me I would call my bank and get a new account number and spend some money for Identity Theft Protection.
