If you have a credit card w/ Juniper Bank - you better pay it off quickly and close it out!!
Juniper Bank, nka Barclay's Bank Delaware sent a notice dated 6-8-2011. I will now be charged an annual fee on my 'NO FEE' credit card based on a new review of my credit report.
Then, in an attempt to sucker the idiots - the same notice states that I will receive an incredible '1% Cash Back' on future purchases.
This comes after I phoned to negotiate a lower interest rate based on other rates from my other credit card companies.
I did not authorize a review of my credit report, nor did I request an increased line of credit.
Payments are always early and more than the minimum due, if not in-full. My credit report has not changed over 6 years - it's exactly the same.
There needs to be a class action lawsuit against these greedy credit card companies who gouge the customers in good standing. I thought they had to have permission to run someone's credit report. Regardless, it's the same as it was when they issued me the card in the 1st place - over 5 years ago. This is rediculous.
I called customer service to dispute this notice and expressed my disgust with their greediness. They tried to tell me what a great deal the '1% Cash Back' would be.
"SO - you charge me $49.00 a year to get 1% Cash Back on an account you already charge me TOO MUCH INTEREST ON IN THE 1ST PLACE!"
I spoke to 2 different customer service reps and ended up closing up the account. I do not need Juniper Bank - there are other credit card companies available and quite frankly - cash is king. Screw them. All these banks are rich to begin with-with all the bail-outs. People like me who pay their bills are the ones punished for those who don't. - I'm not paying their debts too.

You did not authorize a review of your credit report, this is the problem, first all when you signed that contract in the first place you gave them the right to run credit checks periodically. They don't have to ask your permission every time. If you are going to have a credit card maybe you should know exactly how it works, too many people have credit cards and have no idea exactly what they are agreeing to..but i do know that the letter you are talking about was an opt out letter, they notify you beforehand and if you wish, you can close the acct and move on to a new creditor.. Cash is king why even have a credit card???
