When I opened my brick and mortar store, I was approached by a number of people who wanted to help me with a merchant account, which they all swore to be the very best. North American Bancard was the merchant account that was the most convincing. However, when I was forced to close my store about 18 months later, I continued to have my bank account charged for two merchant account fees plus the rental fee of the credit card machine, which I was not using and rarely had any use for in the first place. It was then that I realized that North American Bancard, my merchant account company, had slipped in a contract with Northern Leasing Systems, Inc. for this credit card machine.

Northern Leasing Systems, Inc. continued charging me $32 a month even after my store was closed. When I contacted them about this, I was told that whether I used the machine or not, I signed a lease for it and therefore, I had to pay. To make a long story short to prevent Northern Leasing from continuing to take money from my bank account, I filed a stop payment on all payments to them through my bank. I shipped the credit card machine back to them after learning that not only was my lease longer than I was originally told, but Northern Leasing took it upon themselves to pay property taxes on their machine for me with my money. I disputed that payment with my bank and got my money back. I also had to put a cancellation payment on all payments to Northern Leasing so that they could not withdraw funds from my bank.

Now, I am receiving invoicing statements from Northern Leasing that I have to pay them $163.95 and they intend to charge an additional $5 interest each month until I pay it, which I will not do. It never mattered to them that I returned their equipment. Also, I learned after closing my store and paying several more months of rental fees on this equipment that even after paying for 48 months rental, I would still have to buy the equipment if I wished to keep it. I do not think a credit card machine is worth $1536, plus whatever they were going to charge me to buy it. Do you?

Any business that has to cheat people out of their money and to trick them into signing a contract without release is disreputable and dishonest. I would gladly file a lawsuit against this company. I still own an internet business, which is where I started and went back to; however, I try to always be honest and fair iwth my customers, even when it has cost me in doing so.
