Washington Mutual/Providian is unfair and dishonest. My husband's plant shut down after 9/11 and was on unemployment for 1 year. He tried to deal with company to see how they can work payment out. Then we moved to an area where it was hard to find a job. Again, he faced another bout with unemployment. By then it was too late to do anything about the creditors until we recently received a summons. Found out by viewing Ripp-off Report we were not the only one to face issues with this Company. WashMtl/Providian, according to the credit reports have charged off the credit as bad credit and closed the account in 2003 which was opened in 1998. Then we started getting letters from Portfolio Recovery stating the want the money. Also, noticed on this site that Portfolio, also, there are issues with. According to Portfolio they opened account in 2004 abd they stated on credit report that is has been closed since 12/2004. NOW here it is 2007 and we receive this Summons from Portfolio who is the Plaintiff looking for something we don't have. Any help as to what to do next would be greatly appreciative.
