i recently moved to illinois from California. SBC mailed the closing bill to the wrong address, they then turned over the bill to American Agency, who never sent me anything. I got an updated credit report...with them on it. I had to search to find a phone number. I told them I would pay it right now. But Nicole was more interested in saying very insulting things, rather than getting the bill paid! I finally hung up without paying the bill. They refuse to remove it from my report, even though they admit, I never got any notice, they state no thier problem, and to get a lawyer. I currently am with SBC, and boy do I wish that I could change phone company's they don't have to treat you with any respect they can just cheat and lie and make mistakes, and not be accountable to thier customers!! If we ever do get the chance to change I will!!!! I do plan on filing a small claims action against SBC and American agencies for deceptive business, and misreporting to the credit b.

SBC failed to send me a final bill for my old residence but gladly set up my new service when I moved back in 1998. I went to move again recently and found a negative on my credit report from American Agencies.. There was a principle amount of around $200 AND INTEREST OF MORE THAN $200 ADDED ON!!!
I called them to say that I didn't recognize the charge/amount and didn't think I owed it. The address they gave me that the bill was owed from was my old address so I offered to pay the principle amount (if I owe it, I will pay). THEY REFUSED!!! "Mario" said that they didn't negotiate. I asked for a supervisor who then NEGOTIATED>> but only down to $350. I told her that I would pay the principle but charging interest was ridiculous. She still refused!
This is coming off my credit report in about 7 months so I will simply not pay them anything.
How stupid are they? They could have gotten something but they chose to get NOTHING!!
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had some awful experiences with SBC and have filed complaints with FCC here in Michigan against them. They called my house every day 4 or 5 times a day begging me to take their service, I refused but they continued to call no matter how many times I told them to take me off their calling list. One day I had it and called them and flipped out on them told them if they didn't remove my number immediately I would file harrasment charges, they assured me they would never call again, not even 5 minutes later another telemarketer called from SBC trying to sell me their service, I blew up at her!! I filed a complaint with the FCC and 3 weeks later received a letter from CFC Financial collection agency for $1404 they said I owed to SBC. I use to have their service 6 years ago, but had never seen this bill before in my life! Now it's on my credit report and everything. I asked for proof of debt and they sent me the bill, but like I said I have never seen it before.
