I have a bunch of unauthorized charges on my account. I filed a fruad report on all the charges over 2 months ago. I still have not recieved any refund.

I called over the last two months and they keep saying they fight for thier customers but nothing has been done on my behave. They are a debit card provider for Visa.

I have dealt with Visa and they are very good with refunding the money while they are investigating the fruad but Bank Freedom is stating that they have to wait for Visa. I know it does not take this long to handle this type of situation.

Does seem like a long time just to investigate CC fraud...

AUTHOR: Ronny g - North hollywood (USA)

This does seem like it is taking an unreasonably long time. In my experience they will typically resolve these kind of disputes in 30 days or so. As well...when I was defrauded by a faulty ATM..the bank gave me the money back on a "provisional" basis until the matter was resolved. It was a pain in the neck but it worked out in the end.

As far as this bank and this situation..who knows? But one thing for sure, you have done all the right things so far, including reporting the bank here. Now I do not know if there are any laws on the length of time a bank can take to investigate, nor do I know if it varies based on the state you live in..but here are a few things you can try.

As nicely as possible let the bank know you have reported them here. Then let the bank know you intend on reporting this situation to the banking commission of your state if you do not have a resolution to this issue soon.

If they are still hose bagging you after that..do report to the banking commission..and the media. Last resort and hopefully it won't come down to this, is file a case in small claims. Most likely they will just pay up rather then deal with that, unless they found some legitimate, legal reason not to give the money back. Either way..it is overdue time that they let you know something.

Best of luck.

Visa Dispute Process

AUTHOR: Bank Freedom - Newport Beach (United States of America)

I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with the charge back process.  Disputes are filed directly to Visa and MasterCard and funds are recredited once a dispute has been won.  Many merchants do not respond to their disputes; when this happens, merchants lose there disputes by not responding within the time given to them from Visa/MasterCard.  When this happens, the funds are re-credited to your account.  The best way to win chargebacks/disputes is to contact the merchant to receive a refund.

See if I didn't do anything about any of this, like calling the company and asking for a charge back then I wouldn't even bothered with this report. The first step I took was to call the company who made the charges. One company had a wrong # recording and the second declined any of the charges. The second company sent a letter to Bank Freedom stating they didnt make the charges on my card.

And the first company who's phone number is not working should show right there that it is a fruad charge on my card. And another thing, I called around the days of the charges and because I couldn't get to a NOTARY, these charges were just being processed. I explained to Bank Freedom of my status and they kept throwing the "policy" babble.

I have had a debit card by Visa in the past and when I disputted a charge they always credited my account and then took care of the fruad part on there time. They clearly stated if the fruad came back with evidence that I did authorize the charge then I would be charged the money back out of my card. Which I had no problem with. That is taking care of your customers need!!! There should be no reason I should wait for MY money.

If Bank Freedom was "fighting for me" then I would of had my money back a long time ago. And if Bank Freedom is saying that these are Visa's "policies" then maybe Bank Freedom needs to forward these reports to Visa and see what actions they would like to take. My next action is going to the Banking commision and the media!
