This company calls 2 to 3 times per week. They identify themselves as Consumer Card Services. Generally it is a pre-selected-recorded message urging you to press 1 or 9 to connect to someone to lower you interest rate.
When you connect to a live person, they state that they work with your credit card company and you have been pre-selected to receive a lower interest rate because you have paid you credit card bills on time for the past 6 months.
They then begin a series of questioning...Be advised that if you do not give the answer they want to any of the below questions, or you seem suspicious & question them, they WILL immediately HANG UP!!!
1. You have made your payments on time for the past 6 months, right?
2. Would you say that you could benefit from a lower interest rate?
3. What is the current balance on your credit card?
4. Are you still liquid on one or more of your cards?
5. Before we send you to the processing department, could you read the member services phone number from the back of your card?
This is about as far as I have gotten with them. The first few times they called, I was obviously suspicious and was rudely hung up on each time, mid sentence. This last time they called on my work number. I decided to assume interest to obtain information, but was less than successful.
"James" said that they do not charge any upfront fees, that the work with your credit card company to lower your interest rate. He explained that they make money from the credit card company, not the consumer.
I asked the gentleman "James" for a phone number, b/c I was at work & did not have my credit card on me, he said that they were all outbound & there was no inbound number. He explained that as soon as he got me over to the processing center, they would give me a number. He did state that he would send me some information in the mail, so I will wait to see what I can obtain from that.
