Did I see that said you use a Register to keep track of your account. As had you been keeping a register the following statement...
I had left the bank after doing and transaction and getting my receipt and asking the teller to make sure my account would be fine and was assured it would be. I still did not believe it so I went home and checked my acount before I went to bed at 11pm, knowing just in case could run to the ATM if needed and deposit a couple bucks (I do not trust their on-line banking as things can pop up after a week that you are not expecting because it was minused out with the prior week billing), nothing was there
Could have been changed to this. "I looked in my register and realized that I had made 3 transactions that haven't been submited to the bank yet"
By the way the Cut-Off for deposits at most banks is between 2-6PM. So even if they had shown up, going at 11pm at night would have been too late anyways to "beat" money back to the bank.
Now, people will tell you how you did nothing wrong. They will also tell you that the banks are evil and explain to you how you can opt-out of the Overdraft protection. While I do suggest you do that as well. It probably would not have helped you in this case because that only stops your Debit Card useage IF you are currently overdrawn.
Another suggestions along with opting-out of the Overdraft protection and keeping a register. For these small purchases do not use your Debit Card but take out a set amount of money. At least if you do happen to overdraw it would only be for the 1 withdraw and not the 3(or more) debit purchases. Because there is no reason you should have needed to use a Debit Card for $0.80.
I will be closing my account there and not doing any type of business with them.
- Unless you change your ways don't expect the new bank to be any different.
