CLOUT Visa - M&I Bank CLOUT Visa Harrasses College Students ripoff Madison Wisconsin

Back when I was a freshman, I got a call at about 8am on a Saturday to my dorm room phone (no one ever calls that number) from someone wanting me to confirm my information. I assumed it was for college and unfortunately gave them the information including my social security number. They got my name incorrect and now for the past 5 years I have been getting credit card offers for this other name and thought nothing of it. I just got my credit report and it turns out that they actually opened a card (which I never received) and it was open for a year and closed with the balance paid each month.

I called M&I Bank as it appeared on the credit report and they don't handle these cards anymore and Clout does not exist. I guess I am lucky that it was closed without harm done but this could have been so much worse.

I am just so upset that a company would harrass students in the college dorms and not be clear about what their intentions are. Now I have this random card on my credit report and who knows who has my information. Beware for your college students!
