Discover Card Rip Off

I had a dispute with a merchant named the Ivy House. On January 8th, I called Discover to tell them I disputed the charges since I had not signed a contract or charge slip with the merchant.Discover told me that they would "investigate" and that the merchant had until the end of January to respond. In the meantime, they said they would put a temporary credit for $930 on my charge which they did. At the beginning of February I called Discover to see how the matter had been resolved. They told me that the temporary credit would be changed to a permanent credit. Since I had already paid this credit card balance in full back in November 1999, I requested a check for this charge for $930.00 In February I was sent a check for the full amount of $930. Today I received a letter stating that Discover had received "additional" information from the merchant that this charge was valid and that Discover intended to charge me again for this item. I feel that the matter should be resolved between the merchant and Discover since Discover already sent me a check and I was reassured by them that this matter was resolved. In the meantime, I have cancelled my charge account with them. What do you think about this? Thank you.
