I have been in the business for a long time and have even been offered a job by this company. I rightfully declined. In certain states, there are laws that protect you.Now mind this, I am also a collector.
Per your contract that you signed at the time your purchase your vehicle, they can legally reposess your vehicle. But If you live in the following states (CT,SC,OH,LA,WI)they need to send a notice of Right to cure.In english, you need to send the amount showing or they can reposess vehicle if not recieved by a certain date.
Per FDPCA Law you can always call in a check over the phone and have them post date the check. If you feel threaten by a collector don't be scared to report to the fair trade commission and if need a attorney. You can legally sue a collector personnally and the company.
I make you aware of this due to the fact that people sometimes fell intimidated and don't think that they have rights. Look for the law on the internet.Type in FDCPA LAW and you can read what you need.
Now,If I call you,(I work now for a mortgage company)have the courtesy to hear us out.Collectors are to try to assist you in the problem that caused you to be behind not blow you off and threaten you!

My ex-wife has been taking (harrassing) me to court for the last 4 years. Last year she took me to court claiming I had never paid child support. This even though my wages are garnished monthly and a check for child support mailed to her monthly.
On the day of trial she was confronted with this evidence and surprised to see me show up with an attorney. This prompted her to withdraw her fraudulent motion. I however was out $3000.00 in attorney fees. How is this related to your comment you ask?
Well my ex-wife was so expert in this that I looked up the Long Beach Acceptance Corporation on the Better Business Bureau of So. California and sure enough their rating was Unsatisfactory with complaints of fraud, harrassment, threats and foul language.
I'm almost certain she represents her employer in court even though she is not a paralegal or lawyer.

My daughter purchased an auto a couple of years ago, the loan company turned out to be Long Beach Acceptance Corp. Shady deals aside regarding the dealer himself, who I am going after, this company has a nasty habit of insisting they did not receive payments when you know you have sent them. My daughter's payments come out of her half of the child support, and so on her behalf I have been making those payments, but whether I have sent the money through online payment services, or by Priority Mail, or even Overnight Express Mail, these people always say they have not received the payment! I have NEVER seen anything like this!!
I always make the payment for more than the amount required on the coupon, and always send it to the address on the coupon. On May 7 I priority mailed another payment to them and still today am coming home from work to harrassing phone calls from these people. I do not even respond anymore, it is really sickening. I called the bank yesterday, to see if the check had come back against the account, and again today, and it has not. Yesterday morning I sent yet another check, not only priority mail, but return receipt, signature required, so that I will have the day, time, place, and signature of a person who has that payment in their hands, so that I can confirm that the payment did indeed arrive and is in their agency. Today I had to stop payment on the check sent over two weeks ago, and I refuse to cowtow to their constant requests for money to be sent through Western Union. That costs alot of money, and it cost me $15 today to stop payment on the check from earlier this month.
I suspect they have all these checks that they claim to not have received, and just insist they did not get them to force consumers to do the phone payments instead. Even that isn't above board either, I refuse to do any phone payments with them anymore, after getting confirmation that they were taking a payment last year, (to replace, of course, yet ANOTHER payment they claim not to have received), and then after making all the arrangements, the same person who made the arrangements calls within two weeks demanding another phone payment and completely denies arranging for the phone payment two weeks earlier. These people are really pathological.
So tomorrow, AGAIN, I will go to the post office and mail yet ANOTHER check, this time a bank check, certified check, priority mail with return receipt and signature confirmation, and I refuse to allow them to manipulate my methods of payment. It costs $7.10 just to mail every payment now, by the methods above, and it is a bloody shame, as everyone else gets their payments via mail that only costs me 34 cents. On top of the checks I have had to stop payment on, I have spent more time and effort dealing with this disreputable company that any person should have to. Everyone else gets their payments and mail when I send out mail, do you think for one moment I would believe that Long Beach Acceptance Corp repeatedly does not receive Priority and Overnight Mail from my town???? Do you think anyone else would believe it??? Of course not! In my online business, I am at the post office several times weekly to mail things out, and every piece of mail as well as every package always reaches its destination, EXCEPT for things mailed to Long Beach, whether priority mail or overnight mail. I mean, WEEKS later they are STILL claiming they have not received it!!
They can threaten all they want, the credit union will back me up with the stop payments, and we live in a small town, and the postmaster is well aware that I am utterly frustrated with all the effort put into mailing these people payments and having them always insist they never got the payment. The latest laugh is one of the collection agents new line was I shouldn't have mailed the payment to the address on the coupon!!!!! Oh really, then why is it on the coupon. When I asked what the new address was, of course all they wanted was a phone check again.
My advice to folks is to unfortunately spend the extra money to have proof that they got your payment. $7.10 is less than a stop payment fee, and also less than sending money by Western Union.

I have had major problems with Long Beach. I was sick and out of work and told them I couldn't pay them. They harrassed me so, much, I explained to them I would like to file a deferment until I can get back on my feet. They went so far as to contact my elderly next door neighbors, because they couldn't contact me I was out of work and my phone was disconnected due to non-payment, when I tell you I was completely broke. I mean I was broke.
I was so embrassed that they told my neighbors that I did not pay my car note for 3 months, (which is untrue) that if I didn't have a payment to them bt 6 pm that evening that they would come re-po my car. I couldn't afford to pay them so, I told them to come get it. I have been trying to contact them because I still owe them money and I want them to come get this car. But I have not heard from them in over ayear.
I have the car in a garage awaiting some kind of repsonse from them so that I can return this damn car to them.
