I got a MasterCard in the mail for my 11 year old that was unsolicited.  My daughter has never requested such information and doesn't even know how to fill out a credit application. This is predatory and absolutely ridiculous!  No wonder there is no actual person to talk to at this company - because they are a scam!  I have notified the credit bureaus and the government about their illegal practices.

Don't be so sure

AUTHOR: Robert - Irvine (U.S.A.)

My daughter has never requested such information and doesn't even know how to fill out a credit application.
- While I am sure you want to believe the best in your daughter, Don't be so sure about that comment.

First off NetSpend is NOT a Credit Card, it is a Pre-Paid Debit Card.  That means that the only way that it can be used is if someone puts money on the card first.  Since money has to be put ON the card, NetSpend is not going to just randomly send out cards with money on them.  So you either have some random stranger requesting a card in your daughters name and putting money on it, or you have your daughter requesting this card.

If it is some stranger I think you have more serious issues that you need to deal with.

Now in her defense she may not even know she did it.  It is possible she was on the Internet and didn't even realize she requested the card.  That is why it may be time to have a serious talk with her anyways.
