My elderly father found this website earlier today and saw that it said free credit report. Seems that is just a ruse.
This place claims to be a free credit report place that also offers credit monitoring. A $1 charge is mentioned at the time of setting up your account. Off to the side, written in white letter with a light blue background in font 8 is a notice that you are setting up a trial membership that will be charged $29.95 after 7 days. It is also in their terms of service. Their terms of service window is less than an inch tall and has 13 pages of text. That is 496 lines. The only mention of this charge in the ToS is in paragraph 8 of this huge amount of text. These practices are clearly meant to hide the charges from a user who does not look at ever intricate detail of their webpage. Their aim is to get that first 29.95 charge to you and then make it impossible to get that taken off. There is no way to cancel on their website. You have to call and speak to a representative. I will be doing that tomorrow but I am sure they are going to try to sell me all kinds of jazz over the phone. That is the whole point in having to call instead of being able to take care of it over the internet. They have no email. I will update this with how it goes tomorrow.

Well, I got my fathers account cancelled. I was fortunate that I caught before any billing as I am pretty sure once billed you can't get it back through them. I still find the site questionable because every bit of stand out information they have says free. Using common sense it is pretty easy to see that they rely on people to not see that they are signing up to be billed after 7 days and therefore only cancel after they have been billed. This in my opinion is targeting and taking advantage of naive or elderly people.
