For over 2 months every day twice a day once at 8am and once at around 7:30 pm Discover card called my house wanting me to open an account. I repetedly told them neither me or my husband were interested. One day I don't hang up on them because they finally broke me down i figured if i listened they would stop calling wrong. Some how in me aggreeing them to send me information on a card they signed me up and opened a $4000 dollar limit card in my name. I've never seen this card all tho they say they sent it. Any junk mail i get i don't open just rip in two and leave in the alley garbage. So i was unaware that i have this credit card...untill i start getting calls saying thank you for becoming a new member and asking if i want the latest deals or whatever. I repetedly tell these people i don't have a discover card and they say oh yes you do.... what??? I didn't fill out any forms requesting a card. just because i listen to someone i can't even understand for a few minuets i get a card and now i pissed.

I called the company telling them i never wanted and still don't have a discover card. They tell me that now because i want to close this account its gonna effect my credit score... I didn't want the card in the begining and never signed for anything!!! how do you get the nerve to sign and acctivate an account with out me knowing.

Only good thing is these mystery cards were never acctivated and no charges are on them... this is crap tho how can they just open a card for you unreal and totally should be illegal shame on you discover....

Sorry...no one is forced to get a credit card.

AUTHOR: Ken - Clinton (U.S.A.)

Yes, perhaps it was tiresome to receive call after call from them. OK. But you are the one in charge here. You keep rejecting them, and there are ways to keep them from calling.

That said, when Discover sends a card out, it is not activated until you call the phone number on the sticker which is on the card. In addition, you have to input a specific piece of information on the card for the card to be activated.

As far as closing the account (if that is what it comes to), don't worry about your credit score. Credit scores are NOT the end of the world, and whatever negative effect this may have will be temporary.

Remember...YOU are in charge of your financial destiny. Take it from someone who learned the hard way, and is glad he did.

Let's see if I have this right.

If I call you twice a day and recommend that you send me $500, eventually you will be "forced" to do so? If that is the case, please respond to this post (and don't forget to include your phone number).
