Phebe Khan Credit Repair Sent letters out that were denied by the credit reporting companies and when we tried to confront her about why her letters didn't do anything, she didn't bother to call us back. Saint Louis, Missouri

My husband and I hired Phebe Khan in November of 2009 because I had just inherited a substantial amount of money and we wanted to both up our credit scores in order to take out a home loan to purchase our first home.  However, we both had several accounts that were late or delinquent for whatever reason.  She met us at a Saint Louis Bread Company with our infant son after both rushing there from work and school.  She showed us the copies of the letters that she was going to send out (but first she made us sign up for credit report services from a specific company that cost us $15 each and to give her the passcodes to our respective accounts).  We paid her $200 in cash that evening even though we were barely getting by and having enough money for food, baby formula and rent. 

Now, about 4 weeks later, we both started getting letters from Experian and TransUnion saying that none of the negative information would be removed (even on closed accounts that had been paid off to a collector) for 7 years.  This was definitely not what we bargained for.  My husband tried to contact her through the business card she gave us and he left numerous messages never to hear from her again.  We have now been battling these credit reporting agencies for almost 2 years now ourselves and have most of the negative information removed.  We ended up buying a house finally without her help, but that's $230 that I wish I hadn't had to spend in the first place.
