I called J. D. Marvel on 12/10/03 to order bedroom slippers. Because I thought I was calling Champlain, New York, as written on the order coupon, I waited for 14 minutes for an operator to take the call. No answer. I called again four hours later, waiting 7 minutes. The January 6 phone bill reflected that this company is in MONTREAL,CANADA, so the phone charge was $21.70 for the first call and $10.85 for the second call.

I called again on December 29 to see about returning the slippers because they had glue speckles on them. This call lasted 4 minutes, costing $6.20.

Bottom line: $10.90 slippers cost an EXTRA $38.75 in INTERNATIONAL phone charges!

'Scamplain' is Just a Short Drive from Montreal on the Autoroute. Do a Rip Off Report Search for Champlain, New York and You Will Be Amazed!

If you look at a map you will see that this small village is just across the border from Canada. That makes it an ideal location for Canadian scam companies to use as a 'mail drop.'

If I were the Attorney General of New York, I would get the fraud division in Plattsburgh busy checking out these entities in a heartbeat. They give legitimate New York companies a black eye because so many people do not realize where they really are.

Just looking at the results from 'Scamplain' alone, you will see how many schemes these criminals can devise to separate you from your money. We need to keep the pressure on Elliot Spitzer's office to shut them down!
