I will not be going on RCCL ever again. i went on my first cruise with them and it soured me on them forever. I took the cruise to the USVI in may of 2004 on the explorer of the seas. My travel agent had booked me and my husband ( this was my wedding cruise ) and 12 members of our family on this 7 day cruise. Travel agent was great, wedding planner great ( I did not go through royal romance) Cruiseline terrible.

Things that went wrong... my travel agent ordered fowers to be in my room when i arrived, never showed up, my wedding bouqet that I ordered never showed up ( my sister had to wake the florist on the morning of my wedding so i could have it ), the cake and champange reception for my family at dinner was horrible due to they say it was never ordered but I ordered it personally through the so called customer service center. The cake was bland, and the drinks warm yuk..., the first formal dinner was a flop, the waiter we had was rude and did not speak englinsh - the 2nd server translated, I ask for more salad and the waiter said they no longer had any ! salad they ran out of SALAD!,

Puerto Rico our fisrt stop was scenic the dead dog on the road the cab driver flipping off pedestrians etc... the cruise was not smooth sailing waves rocked us all night and we could have surfed in the pool, which a fight broke out over lack of pool chairs, on the day of my wedding in st thomas we docked on the oppsite side of what the itenery said so I had to make a $23 phone call to the wedding planner to tell her where we were. The wedding was beautiful and I love that I was married on the sand. We were the only cruiseline in port that day which from what I heard was rare.

I could go on about how rude the staff was on board and off, customer service is hardly how I would describe it but lets just say this ship was too big with too many people and unqualified, unprofessinal and uncaring staff. PS the flight that RCCL arranged back for the 14 of us - no one sat next to their partner. and they refused to help us rearrange seats.

RCCL isn't to blame

Mary - Colorado Springs (U.S.A.)

I went with them for my cruise on 4/9/05 on Voyager of the Seas. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We even took a candid part in a wedding party for fun (at the bride's urging). My flowers were in the room when we arrived, along with the strawberries ordered.

First, there are several things wrong when you are accusing RCCL.

RCCL does not maintain Puerto Rico (only Labadee). YOU chose to go there. Don't blame them for the way that the "scenery" was or how the people acted. There are rude people there, just as anywhere else in the world. Secondly, you cannot blame RCCL for the waves of the water either. And also, no where on any of RCCL's iteneries does it tell you where exactly you will be docking. All it will tell you is the island or Port (and Ports can entail a whole island). And you are right, being the only docked cruise line seems rare, however, that seems highly wrong. March, April, and May are the most common months to travel to those areas due to lack of weather (hurricanes). (In fact, we didn't have a drop of rain on our 7-day cruise.)

So 3/4 of your rant about RCCL entails things that has NOTHING to do with them. I am sorry for your terrible experience, but I am actually already planning another cruise in December on the same ship.
